HELP ME WITH POINTS

I play along with Gather all day at my job....lol

anyway...I have been playing and responding and stuff for several weeks and only have 192 points.  Is there some way that I can put a booster on my points and get big time like many of you on gather.

 

What am I doing wrong?  Is there any way to get tips on how to get more points?

Tracey, girl, what is the problem? Looks like you are in plenty of groups, so that's not the problem...I will tell you that you have to post ALOT and try to start cross posting with others as well. What kind of stuff are you posting? If its just freebies, short poems, and things like that you will get less responses. Are you tagging your articles and pics appropriately? People do search by tags.

Anyway here's a point. And I'll give another by connecting.

Write articles, comment lots, have lots of comments and ratings on your articles, and rate everything that you read...good beginning

I don't know about the getting points thing much but I know that the points come from commenting, posting articles and inviting people and joining groups. I'm here for the pure fun of it and I love it so much. I hear there are prizes for certain point levels but if I don't reach that level I'm quite content. :D

Write articles, connect with those that share your interests and do a lot of commenting so people get to know you.

I'll chip in! I really think the key is to actually connect with some of your connections. When you do that, you tend to have readership on your articles...but, you must offer the same. In other words, the more you pay attention and comment for others, the more they will do the same for you.

I wrote an article that might give you some helpful tips. Keep in mind that my article just talks about things I do on Gather, so of course it's not the "law" or anything, haha. BUT... I seem to be doing pretty well on points, so it might be worth checking out.

Tracey, all of the tips above are good if your sole goal here is to get points. But you might want to consider just using Gather to have fun and the points will come as you do things on Gather that are fun for you.

One thing I thought I would mention is that you might want to be sure that you are only posting your articles to the groups that the topic fits in. It is a little frustrating to find a lot of off topic articles in groups. Like, for example, this article might not be a good fit for a group on weight watchers.

You have a lot of good advice Tracey. I seemed to get more when I post articles than any thing. And then going around commenting on other people's articles and pictures. But then I'm on here every day, sometimes several times a day and that racks up the points faster. But really just having a good time and enjoying it is the main thing and the points will take care of themselves.

I just started out as well, and I am trying the figure out the point thing. I must admit though that the more I read and write here, the more I actually love this site just for the fun of it. Nevertheless, points are a great bonus.

This is my first time here and I was wondering the same thing. I have really enjoyed the site so far and am learning a lot. I think I agree with everyone else that you should have fun first and the points will come later.
