Bienvenue! Welcome to Mariana's House of Frills and Loot.
I thought I'd invite you in and show you some of my treasures.
Please excuse the dust.

These are part of my cowpoke family. They lived with us when I was a kid, they went away for a while, and in my 30's, I found them at a junk shop across the street from mama's house! Of course, I bought them back. She was happy as she'd regretted giving them away. Now, we're all a family again.

This lovely lady's name is Joy. She is very special to me. A few of my turquoise bracelets surround her lovely waist. Isn't she something else!

Oh these adorable critters come from the land of Carnivals. I adore them. LaLa had a crack in her head but my mama crocheted a little cap and we covered it up! She lives in my kitchen where my fancy dishes never lived.

This sweet donkey was a gift from a friend who went away and joined the Priesthood. It belonged to his grandfather and he knew it would be safe with me forever. He gave me quite a bit of McCoy and other collectibles as well.
The lady in the cut out picture was my dad's first wife, Sylvia Plank of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, who gave me many of the bunny treasures as well as many of the carnival treasures. I have many more but they're in another room. These just happen to live in my breakfast nook area.
I adore this little lady who sits next to a tiny pot made by a friend. Isn't she beautiful?

Here are several Sailors. Somehow they found their way to me and seem to enjoy living with me. I heard one sneezing the other day. Maybe I need to dust once in a while!
This old typewriter along with many old books were left here in this house when I moved in. The former owner lived here thirty six years. He worked for a newspaper. I love having his old typewriter and wherever you are, Mr. Saunders, please send me some inspiration!

These are a few of my older books and maps!

These books sit in my office along with the captain who likes to drink so he's in good company in the evenings. He came from Mel's, a neat old bar on State Street here in Santa Barbara. When they renovated, we purchased him. He loves to read while he sips his rum so I reckon he's in a good place.

This wonderful wooden carved lady, Lola, was sitting on a shelf in New Iberia, Louisiana. She has a wine goblet in her hand and has a mean look on her face. The guy who owned the booth told me that he fell in love with a Lola once (who looked like me) and proceeded to tell me the whole story. I bought her and she is watching me type right now. She loves jewelry so I let her wear one of my broaches.
This adding machine used to live in Louisiana but it kept wanting to move away so here it sits on my shelves dedicated to Louisiana in my breakfast area.
Some of my books by Louisiana authors sit on a plate rack around my breakfast nook. I love the look of the covers. Next time I'll show you more! This is only a brief tour of my treasures. I hope you had a good time visiting.
