A series of haiku, pondering our state and our fate...
Alone forever?
Standing on the dock
My voice echoes in black sky
And travels to stars
Dogs within two miles
Can hear me cry to the sky
The sky hears nothing
Trapped in a bubble
Only here can I survive
I am mute in space
The stars seem so close
I can reach up and touch them
But no, they just tease
I can do nothing
But wonder what life revolves
Around other stars
God is indeed cruel
To have left us so apart
Must invent warp drive
“Commander LaForge
Take us up to warp eighteen.”
“Right away, Captain.”
Or could we just be
The true beginning of life?
The first space babies?
The universe waits
To welcome us to the fete
Like prodigal sons
Or is it lurking
Waiting to devour our earth
Like cosmic sushi
Endless space and time
Stretch out forever and on
We are not ready
Should we venture out
Or wait to be taken home
New Jerusalem?
Honey? Wake up, hon.
You must have had a bad dream.
God, I’m glad you’re here.

This is welcome inner child nourishment for the Children's Corner.
Like Audrey, I've never tried a multi-haiku piece. So, thanks for the new challenge, too!
