At last night's weigh in I was pleased to see that I had lost another 2.1 pounds. Yea! As you know from this chronicle, I've been doing pretty good, though I've had my ups and downs. I am surprised when I hear others in my meeting talk about how slow the process is for them. I know there will come a time that my loss will slow down, it's inevitable, but here at the beginning this is the best opportunity to take off the most weight and I'm doing it. I don't know why others don't have the same success as I do. But, that success takes place in my normal, average, everyday life and this week might change some...I'm heading for Las Vegas tonight!
You know Las Vegas - the land of the mega buffet? I'll be with a big group who are going to want to go out to eat and I'm going to want to pig out (yeah, like I don't WANT this everyday? haha). And, what about the free beer!!! I don't know if I'll be able to stay strong in the face of all that temptation. Some tools I'll use will be filling up on salad at the buffet in the hopes to keep the yummy stuff to a minimum. I'm also going to spend my points on a little of things I really like, rather than tasting a bunch of different things that tend to add up to piles of food. And, I will try to make healthy choices. I know how to choose wisely. I know how to control my portions. C'mon, we all know what we are supposed to do. I guess what I'm nervous about is WILL I?
What about you? Do you have any tips for dealing with situations like this? We're not talking a wedding here, we're talking five days in food heaven! What do you recommend to keep my head in the right place and my tummy full in a good way? I'd love to hear how others handle vacations and food because I go on a lot of vacations!

Good luck, and have a great time on your trip!
I do a couple of things when on a vacation, business trip or other hiatus that interrupts my normal routine - 1) always carry nuts or granola to munch on when I get a little hungry so I have a level head when making food choices 2) ask myself 3 key questions before I eat - "What am I about to eat? What will it do for my body (ex. give me energy or leave me jittery and sluggish; provide antioxidants or empty calories…) ? Is there a better choice for me?" 3) allow myself to splurge on one thing (in moderation) each day as long as I eat healthfully the rest of the day and exercise.
Hope this helps and good luck!
