Well, it was probably just a matter of time but Amanda C. got me tonight so I'll add to the Gather posts of 6 Strange/Weird Things About Me. I've enjoyed reading others' weird things so I've taken the time to narrow my list down to the required six. They are listed in no particular order of weirdness.
1. In December of 2002, I told my 2 oldest sons (then 7 & 9) that we were going to the airport to take a free flight with my brother-in-law on one of the Air Force planes (he's in the Reserves) when I woke them up one Saturday morning. My sister came along and we acted like we had "guest passes" at the airport. About 2 1/2 hours later we landed in Florida. When we got off the plane and my oldest saw the palm trees, he asked if we could just stay for a few hours. We got to the luggage pick-up before they really started to act suspicious. Thanks to cheap "Ding" airfares with Southwest and a great deal on passes, our little Air Force ride was really a surprise 4 day trip to Disney. I like to do things like that. My sister and I also gave my mother a Fisher-Price bathtub boat for Christmas one year and made her wait until the last present before she got a cruise to go with the boat. I find these little things funny.
2. One of my best friends is a psychic (the real kind, not the 1-900 version) who is about 30 or so years older than me. I meet her twice a year and she does a reading and then we do lunch. You'd be surprised what she picks up at lunch from other people-it could fill any gossip magazine. Oddly, we bacame fast friends about 7 years ago right from the start. I'm a counselor and she's a psychic though so we both work in the broad field of giving hope and predicting the future.
3. When I drink, I can remember my high school Spanish, and tend to speak it at times.
4. I like to rent entire season of tv shows from Netflix and have tv marathons
5. I spend my extra money on vacations and would rather go away than have a new living room set. To top that off, I love our little rustic cabin weekends and week camping in the summer as much as our bigger Disney vacations. The cabin costs $143 a week. People look surprised when I tell them I'm taking the kids by myself for a week in the woods-so that may be strange-I suppose I don't look like "that person" but I know how to start a fire from kindling, creekwalk, and hike.
6. The final strange thing...My mother cut my hair into a short bob with bangs when I was 5 and I have not had shorter hair since. To this day it bugs me that she cut my long hair, so I have rebelled and always had shoulder length or longer hairstyles.
Now I have to tag a few unsuspecting Gatherers... Have fun!
