Well, my Treasure Trooper check finally came on Friday, and my Pinecone one came on Thursday. I grabbed the checks, and the $1's I had saved up, and made the trip to the bank Friday afternoon. I left the change jar behind, because even though it has $10 in it, it's very empty, so I'll let that build up yet.
Anyway, my deposit this week was a $160.04 check, a $5 check, and $33 in single bills. A $198.04 deposit! Yay! That brings our Cedar Point fund up to $965.04! Yay! Now, the trip itself is going to be cheaper than anticipated, I think.
For starters, we were budgeting based on staying at Lighthouse Point, which is $529 for 2 nights (which includes 2 park tickets, 2 starlight park tickets, 4 challenge park tickets, 2 buy 1 get 1 free soak city tickets, and a 10% off card for dining at specific restauarants at the park, and near the park). Once you take out the costs of all the extras, it's about $150 per night, roughly. Still a bit steep, but it IS Memorial Day weekend.
Well, I looked at the online reservation form, and found that Cedar Point's Sandcastle Suites is $106 cheaper for the 2 night package, and instead of a 10% off card, it gives us $30 in "munch money", which can be used in the park to eat with.
So, rather than a card we won't use (we were planning to eat our meals in our cabin), we get $30 towards food in the park (and will still eat in our room), and we save $100 off the room.
We need about $200 more to make it a reality.
Actually, I have another $79.01 from Treasure Trooper that will come in April (it will maybe be slightly more, since March isn't done yet), and today, we returned soda bottles from the past few months- $17.10 towards the change jar. Plus I have my change jar itself. But just the $17.10 & the $79.01 will bring our total up to: $1061.15.
Have I mentioned lately, I have Cedar Point TOTALLY on my mind?

Keep saving!!!
Make sure you take a lot of pictures to share with us from your own trip, Christina!
Chris & Gillian's birthday's are literally right around the corner from Christmas (December 27th, & Janujary 15th), so I gave them their cards for their birthdays instead. Raegan's birthday is 1 month away, and guess what I -just- found last week? Yep, a $20 gift card to Claire's. ;)
Aside from those cards, I had gotten a check for $92.29 just before the day after Thanksgiving from Treasure Trooper, about $100 in gift cards to Wal-Mart, an Amazon.com gift card, a $10 gift card to Claire's, a $35 check from TT in December, and I can't recalll what all else.
It didn't pay 100% for Christmas, but it came pretty darn close for the kids. :) I plan to do that again this year, only saving up earlier in the year for it. :)
