Gathering Points...Not an Easy Task !!

Yup it is a bit of a challenge to get points.

Thanks all...I have a question. Do you get a point every time someone responds? Also, is it the same when you post? It doesn't seem to be, but I was curious ! Thanks again ! You are all great !!

I wasn't sure how they added up, and it took me a good week to realize how many I needed to spend. Over my first week, they were very slow in coming, so I just stopped watching, thinking it would be weeks or months before I got anywhere near a $10 gift card.

I just kept making comments, wrote a few articles, posted a single group, and added connection upon connection. I want to say I had my first $10 card earned in 3 weeks, BUT, I don't recall for certain. It might have been longer.

At first I just tried to have fun reading & writing & didn't worry about points and then all at once they really seem to start adding up. Patience!

Also, the popular theory is you get a point for comments, BUT, really, no one knows. Since it takes a while for the points to be added on, we don't know what earns them specifically.

It's supposed to be a combination of page views, comments, ratings (but the average and the amount of votes), etc for articles.

keep writing ..points will come. the key, as i have understood is, patience and persistence.

I see people here talking about 3000 points! It will probably take me a year to get that many, not a month! I check my points every day.

I joined in December of last year. Only been on here for 3 full months now.
During the first month I earned 1 $10 gift card (625 points) and made about 75 connections.
I chose connections carefully, reading their articles before accepting invites and only inviting people I thought I had something in common with. Now I am up to 125 connections, still all people I like and feel a common interest with.

As you comment regularly on articles, and get those people seeing your name and commenting back on your articles, points will come quicker.

Since that first point cash in, at the end of January, I have earned 2538 points (as of this morning) and those have mostly been in the last month as my connections grew some.

I might suggest finding a points based group if you are here to earn gift cards, you can search for tags like "point whore". (I still hate that term. LOL)

Hey, you're not alone. My points have turned into cash and it ecrus soooo slowly!!!

I do this while I am at work mostly...LOL
But, I started off this morning with 30 points and I am up to 42 points today.
I am still trying to figure out this whole Gather thing.
I am getting the hang of it and even just a few minutes ago published my first question.

Do you get gift cards or money into your Paypal account?

I'm not even sure what to do with the points? Like, what's the point of the points?
