Train Graveyard

of a South Central Liner
spilling metallic intestines
over a rusty track

the picked remains
of a bum's last meal

a black speckled
bird's hymnal crowing

and the exposed
white lining at the elbow
of my jean jacket

all remind me
of his death.

April - while not all of them are about me, I'm afraid this one was. My brother took me to see a train graveyard, and while there, we were talking about our father's death.

Laura ~ When my father passes on, I too will shed tears at the sight of neglected retired trains, as trains are his biggest hobby. Wonderful poem.

Poem well-written. Train tracks seem to go to infinity, and dead cars along their sidings bring us back to reality.
