A few weeks ago, one of my family's closest friends got in a motorcycle accident. Jimmy loved riding motorcycles and drove a BMW for years. Just recently he bought a Triumph and while he was riding home one night, he accidently hit a deer that ran in front of him. He and the deer tumbled and Jimmy ended up with the bike on top of him.
A lady who witnessed the accident tried to lift the bike from him, but it was too heavy. She called 911 and when they arrived they noticed that he had a broken arm and leg. He also broke his collar bone. When he arrived at the hospital in San Antonio, he had to have surgery. The Doctor's told Jimmy's friend Larry that he could go home the next day. There was nothing life threatening wrong with him.
When Jimmy woke up he was still heavily sedated. He told his friend, "I want to go home." Larry told him that the Doctor's said he could go home the next day. Jimmy said, "No, I want to go home to Jesus." Jimmy died sometime during the night. The autopsy report has not come back yet, but the Doctor's think that he may have had a blood clot burst which caused him to have a heart attack.
I've known Jimmy since I was in diapers. He is the nicest person I have ever met. As far as I know, he has always been a true Christian. I am so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man. The world needs more people like him. I have to admit though, that I am very happy for him. He wanted to go home and he did. I wish it was that easy for all of us.
So here is my question for you. Do you believe that we can will ourselves to die?

Yes, I do believe so. If someone lost the will to live, he/she will die. But I wonder why. It sounds like he had a lot going on for him and he would want to live... But I wasn't him. I wouldn't know.
So never give!!
