How do I get to the level that you are? How in the world do you get that many points?

I have never been given the option of linking to my Paypal account. Is there a point level that you have to get to first?

I will gladly help you gain points, as I hope others will me.

Hi Tracey, welcome to Gather!

For points, just being active will help you earn points- commenting & rating articles, writing articles, making connections, making a group or two- all that stuff helps. The more active you are, the more connections you'll attract, too, because people will look and say, "Oh, I'm not connected with her!", and they'll send a connection.

As for points vs paypal, you need to earn an average of 3000 points per month in order to cash out for cash.

Before that, though, you can cash points out for gift cards as soon as you have enough points. Click your points total on the gather.com/my.jsp page. It will bring you to a page where they need your user name & password. Once that's entered, scroll down the new page that comes up, and click the bright orange banner.

It will list the different gift cards available, and how many points it takes to cash out.

So far, I've cashed out for $100 in gift cards, or just over 6,000 points. That's since I signed up last fall, so it took some time.

I think the first one seems to take the longest to earn, because you're only just getting the hang of things, and fewer people are reading & commenting on your posts.

I cahsed in the morning for a $50 gift card. At that point I had 41 points - I've earned 60 points so far today and now my total is 101!

Here's another point for you. I think I have 20 points so far. I've only been active for about a week or so now. I spend a lot of my time here reading the first chapters and critiquing them. But after the contest is done, I'd like to post my own articles, too. For now, it's really fun reading other's posts and learning new things. I'm really interested in how to make money online, too. I've been doing surveys since the beginning of this year and have only taken home $35 so far. I would love to earn around $200 doing at home stuff. Heather, would you consider writing a more in depth article about the different ways you make money online? You might address what types of things you do, such as places like gather, surveys or anything else you do, what brings in the most money or gifts and how much time you spend doing each task. I know I would LOVE to read what you'd have to stay and I know a lot of other people on here would like to read it too.

I have 1,357. I am hoping to gain more because the home depot card would really help at this point. Then again so would the book store gift card. I am trying to learn the Japanese language and need to find some books on that.
