This week was an eye-opener for the Gather poster who has asked to only be known as "Z". "Z" had posted several photos he'd found on the internet and received some rude comments among the "10" ratings and effusive compliments.
"They were so rude!" he complained. "One of them asked me why I hadn't 'attributed the images', whatever that means. Another put a link to a copyright law site."
"The worst was from the artist herself. She asked me to email her for permission next time. I mean, she practically called me a thief!" he added.
"Z" was adament that none of the people whose articles and jokes he'd copied and then posted had ever complained. "I don't understand why people are so vicious all of the sudden. I mean, the pictures were cute. That woman should be flattered that I posted them! And now people are questioning if I'm posting 'original content'. Of course I am. I'm the one who posted it, so it's my content, right?"
Shaking his head sadly, "Z" ended the interview with a final statement. "I just hate the drama, you know? Why can't people act like adults online?"
