Several days ago, we were blessed , and directed to a lovely find of a lot of sturdy plastic containers that were used to store non-toxic soaps, and many beautiful Styrofoam coolers that we were able to rescue from the landfill for another use before they find their final resting place. The coolers came with a fantastic bonus of reusable ready-ice type cooling sacks, and we were also lucky enough to score several tomato cages. Woohoo!

Needless to say, the last couple of days have been spent cutting, washing, sanitizing, and planning for the use of our newly discovered wealth. The plastic barrels will be used for water catchment, and rooftop planters, while the coolers will be used for storage containers, giveaway camping coolers for gatherings, and a type of thermally-stable vermicomposting bin that I will be testing this coming year.

My BF always brings home the big conatiners that hold frosting from his job at the grocery store. They are like the 5 and 2.5 gallon paint containers that you can get at Home Depot and the like.
I spray paint them all the same color and have a lovely container garden!
Linda, A lot of people are having a shortage of good dirt this spring, so I'll be writing an article addressing (and solving) the issue shortly. Keep an eye out for it! *smile*
Gwen, great idea for the smaller containers! Sounds beautiful! I don't use containers of regular composting, just for growing my worms. (vermicoposting)
Have a great day.
If you are worried about doodie cleanup in the yard however, the easiest way to get fast decomposition without any necessary yard cleanup is to feed your dogs the B.A.R.F diet. It is natural and healthier for the dogs than commercial foods by far, and their waste dries to a non-messy-non-smelly white powdery substance within 3 days of it's application to the lawn.
