Hello to all,
Annual set-up for the Whitewater Kayak Races was on St. Pat's day and there we were. An unexpected snowstorm made the trip more exciting than usual. It also made it impossible to get out on the rocks in the river (they were too slick) and get real close. There were less kayakers in the water than usual, too.
Check out our snow hike up to the old silver mines, too.
Namaste, Wayne
That's me checking out the St. Francis River just as the snow started.
The curled tree at the starting point.
Kayaks waiting.

The river waits, the snow doesn't.

Shooting the easy part.
Snow blows around the dam. On the right is the chute the kayakers shoot through.

I have personally only been in a kayak once (in very calm water) but I enjoy watching and talking to the experts. Plus, what a great excuse to get outdoors.
