Cheney on his way to Hospital

This morning finds Dick Cheney on his way back to George Washington Medical. His spokeswoman, Megan McGinn, initially reported "It's just a routine checkup."

However, according to NBC News:

Cheney’s office issued an update after his return to the White House, saying,  the vice president experienced discomfort in his left lower leg this morning and after consultation with his physicians, he was asked to return to the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates for "repeat ultrasound imaging of the deep venous thrombosis (clot) in that leg."

Vice President Cheney has undergone several hours of surgery on his legs, quadruple bypass surgery, two angioplasties and a pacemaker implantation. Two weeks ago he suffered a blood clot in the leg.

I always wondered why a guy with his health problems would be in the position he is in.

I heard that his conscience, which is a vestigal organ in most Republicans, became inflamed -so much so that Cheney was incapacitated by unfamiliar feelings of compassion and shame. He sought hospitalization to escape the agony.

I say have him step down and appoint either Karl Rove, Don Rumsfeld, or Condi Rice as VP.

I think Condi Rice would make a great V.P.!

I do admit that this scenario went through my mind...Cheney resigns due to health problems, someone like (substitute your favorite) is picked as Vice President. He/she goes on to win the presidency...8 more years! Oh, the horror! Of the ones Gary mentioned, I would prefer Condoleezza Rice.

Rice would make an interesting Vice President. (Hmmm) Seriously, Cheney will probably be fine. He doesn't have to worry about health care and he only makes rare appearances.

At least in a materialistic capitalistic reality that he walks in ... perhaps an inward inventory would help ...

I wonder where the 'spirit' of Cheney really is? ... interesting thought anyway!

I do not follow the news much. Guess the VP is doing fine now. Thanks for sharing for the uninformed, nonpolitical Americans. I feel for anyone experiencing a myriad of health problems the way this guy has.

I need to become more politically aware, but I usually feel powerless within that system anyhow. I understand that my "vote counts," but just as often it feels like whomever you choose is just more of the same, so I scan headlines, try to do research when the next set of elections occur, and make yet another regrettable choice...

wth, he's had heart problems a bunch of times, had liek two strokes. i guess the more evil you are the longer you live. that's why people like fidel castro are still in power.
