My friend said something to me tonight that made me think. Perhaps that is why she is my friend. I walk away with something from her, food for thought. Sometimes it is such a small reaction or comment she has to my statement. I will scratch my head and chew on it for days. She inspires me to grow and change, but on my own terms. I think that is why I love her so much.
They are not always positive comments, but tonight it was. She said, "Some people have demons that they bury deep inside them. They live their whole life and never examine them, but you don't. You have chosen to face your demons and battle them. You can do that, because you are so strong. Most people do not have your strength. You have endured such incredible and unbearable things, yet you continue to work past them. I don't think you understand and give yourself credit for your strength."
I feel so fortunate to have a friend that is so supportive. I will be thinking about this for a while.
