Problems with Article Rating

Has anyone else had problems with the rating system on Gather, or is it just me? I have tried to rate several articles and only one star will light up and then everything freezes up. That brings the persons score down and what I meant to do was give them a 10.

 

I hate to go through reading and commenting on everything and not give a rating, but I just can’t. I have not been able to since I got on the site. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi Kay! Sometimes it works for me & sometimes it doesn't. I think it's what they call one of the Gather Glitches....lol. There is even a group to vent about it!

I just rated this one a 10.
I have not experienced what you are talking about other than the occasional issue of Gather slowing down to a crawl...

I haven't been able to rate anyone since I got on. I tried again last night and dropped someone to an 8.8 so I'm not trying again. I'll just write 10 in my comment.

I didn't know that it would bring that person's score down if it didn't work. That doesn't sound right.

I just tried to give someone some points without leaving a comment and I got an error that I couldn't rate the article without leaving a comment.

When I initially open an article, the rating stars aren't there. I have to refresh the article and then I don't have any problems. The stars always showed up prior to this week. I'm not having your problem, though.

I haven't experienced this particular glitch yet, but gather has been as slow as a herd of turtles all day.

I haven't had that kind of trouble. I'm able to rate and comment. The ratings don't mean squat anyway. All it takes is one Drive-By 1 and the whole post is shot down anyway, at least in anyone's effort to make the "Highest Rated" list. If you don't pull 10's across the board, chance are slim to none you'll make that category anyway. I've been hammered with tons of 1's lately from the new group that's formed...the "Rob Hate Club". It's not a true indicator of how well you're doing anyway. I think views and comments carry way more clout from people reading your work and expressing their opinions.

I agree with you Rob, at one point I had an 8.8 on this article so I was getting drive-bys too. Most folks said they were giving me 10's. I really think it has more to do with how much conversation your article generates than what your score is.

KAy, after about one week of being here, unless an article slips by with one comment, I never see a ten....Rob's group must also come and hit me after they hit his ratings...

I really don't think I'm going to pay it much attention any more. Since I can't seem to take part in the rating thing any way and my gather points seem to be going up rather rapidly I think it has more to do with how much you interact with people than anything and your articles. I thing the drive-by group is just wasting their time.
