The NYT article is interesting, very, absolutely, uniquely and very uniquely so. In the most important way.
When I see the next adjective, I will kill it, as in really dead. Truly. Same with adverbs.
Proberbially yours,
Kathryn
Seven times zones away by my reckoning Deb. Eight, if you count daylight saving.
Without many adjectives writers will be paid less when they have a dollar per word piece.
There will be less emotion for the 75% paper back buyers that spend time with mystery and romance.
If you're in a race to get to your end of a work, if you're writing for a newspaper or your clubs newsletter you can reduce the number adjectives.
Hey, if they're paying you a buck a word then that changes everything. In that case the magnificent, gracious, erudite superfluity of those amazingly florid adjectives is a positively wonderfully benificent boon to poor, struggling writers everywhere.
Ok, where do I go to pick up my cheque?
The check is in the mail.
VTY,
Eddie r.
