Are you involved with a charity? What do you do to make a difference?

I do volunteer work for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. I got involved with them almost three years ago after reading about a baby from Texas named Allie who lost her battle with AML, a form of Leukemia at the age of 8 months, 27 days.

 What charity are you involved with and how did you get started with them?

I used to do some volunteer work at the womens shelter in town, but since I started working and my daughter goes half days to school its been a battle this past year to help out. Maybe next school year when my daughter goes full time to school and I'm only woring part time I can help out more.

You are volunteering with a great cause. Thanks for your support and love for those who are fighting cancer.

My husband and I are the volunteer cooks for a non-profit agency that teaches life skills to parents and children and also feeds them 3 days a week. We have worked at the agency since it opened 5 months ago. When summer vacation comes, we will be working there 4 days a week. I enjoy the people and the work and also making friends among the staff members.

I haven't done any volunteer work lately. However, I do donate food, clothing, money and other items to several different charities and organizations.

I am a support group leader for Essential tremor. We are two years old, and growing in new visitors, we do trainings, and are attending health fairs this year. We have an up coming chicken bbq fundraiser.. Our mission is to educate, raise awareness and future funding for research for finding a cure. Yes, we are non profit. Love my work. Keeps me very busy.

I actually started thinking about this about a week ago. I want to volunteer with the Women's shelter here in Pittsburgh. I don't have a lot of free time but I'd like to give back somehow. I've made contributions to hospitals babies rooms by bringing toys my daughter never opened. I want to start helping out as much as I can for people that are less fortunate than me.
As a person, I donate a lot of my time to Freecycle(tm), a registered 501c3 non-profit as a volunteer group owner.

As a Professional face painter and children's entertainer, I donate my time and talent to local non-profits, community centers, schools, and churches for their fund raisers or other special events for kids.

Lately I've volunteered by helping my neighbor, who has dementia and her husband is in a nursing home for several months. I generally volunteer on a less personal level, through my Rotary group, the YWCA, treasurer for several Art groups and organizations, but although this is ultimately a thankless interaction, it feels right. It is entirely impossible to worry about oneself while in service to someone or something else. Thanks for reminding us.

March of Dimes, my grandson was a premie he weighed 2 pounds 3 oz. was 13 inches long and 2 and a half months earlier. He is a healthy 5 year old now.

If you know of a charity or non-profit with a good video, help them promote themselves, by posting their video on www.goodtube.org. GoodTube.org is a video-sharing site specifically for non-profits and charities to share their good works and message.

i have been involved w/ the red cross in the past - but right now i don't have that much time to volunteer - although i might b able 2 find somethin online 2 contribute 2
