The Hypocrite Newt Gingrich

I just saw a new story in which Newt Gingrich the former speaker of the house admitted he was having a extra marital affair during the time in which he led the Republican led Congress in the attempts to impeach then President Bill Clinton because of Monica Lewinski scandal. This just proofed my than belief of the hypocrisy in Washington and the rest of America. Now it seems he is gearing up for a bid to run for President. A liar or Hypocrite tough choice.

Newt is a man is sterling character...beyond reproach. In fact, while his first wife was recovering from cancer, Newt thought it would be a good time to discuss the terms of their divorce. This scumbucket should be nominated for Humantarian of the Year.

It figures brain-dead Don H. would try to defend him.

This guy may be an amoral person but he is also very smart. By admitting his infidelities he heads off any repercussions that may arise in the future when he runs for President. Will he have a press conference in which he in tears ask for forgiveness "boohoo I have sin against you".

I am sure this kind of behavior goes on in many walks of life. Such hypocrisy. I lived in the Washington, DC area for five years in the mid to late 70's, and I'm sure this sort of thing happens much more than we realize. I think it is interesting that most people don't apologize for their bad behavior until AFTER they get caught. Hmmm.

Seems to happen in all walks of life regardless of political leanings.

That said, Newt is a brilliant guy and a great American. If he throws his hat in the ring, he will have my full support including dontations. He's the best man for the job in 2008.

I was against them prying into his Monica affair... I think Starr took advantage of the Paula Jones case and used it against Slick Willy. That said, Slick Willy brought it upon himself. Newt didn't lie to a court about it under oath, and he sure as hell did not make that stupid statement "I did not have sexual relations with that woman!"

Juan, he came out with it because he knew it would come out on its own, if he kept it secret, and sink his chances if it happened mid-way in the campaign. As to the question of which is worse, a liar or a hypocrite, not sure if those are negative characteristics in a presidential candidate. I thought they were part of the requirement for any politician.

That is very true. This guy is thinking of running and he afraid of what is hidden in his closet. He knows he has to confess his sins in order to appear like the morally superiors the Republicans pretend to be.

You are right, Mario. Newt knew his "secret" would come out soon. He tried a little damage control by admitting his infidelity...actually he's had more than more.

Juan--you, too, are right about Newt confessing his sins for appearance sake.
