Group Grope

 

Oh my, I have been groped by the groups this week!

I can barely keep up with all of them.
I try to visit each one and check out what they are about.
So many things to consider...
» Does the group have a theme?
» Is it a topic I have an interest in?
» Will it be a group that I would be an active member?
» Who are the members?
» More importantly, who created the group???
» Do I need to join-up to lend my support for a close connection's new endeavour?
» No group theme ...hmmm... will I utilize the open forum or will the new group languish in the wilderness of the ever increasing rollcall of groups one has to scroll through when deciding What to Publish Where? ...

Or maybe ...just maybe... someone has finally created a group where I can post my truly naked self without fear of reprecussion!!!

...doubtful...

fileId:3096224744052244;size:inter;This morning upon arriving in Gather Town, I was greeted by little green glowing Space Invaders  !AwwwK! ...ummm... I mean the cute little you have new group invitations icon. However, this morning, that cute little welcoming icon was accompanied by the ominously staring numerals 1 and 9 ... Oh mY! nineteen invitations!

For those of you creative groupers whose ranks I have recently joined, you can look forward to soon being blessed, or cursed as the case maybe, with absolutely staggering and mind boggling volumes of inappropriate off-topic C&P articles. I further promise to fill the image gallery with nothing but the finest, and most definitely out-of-theme, photos I can scrounge from the deepest dankest darkest corners of the internet!

And to you, my group-creatoriest hero of all - I will get my naked self posted to the group just as ASAP as is gatherly possible!

By the time I got this posted the invites had swelled to 22...

Epilogue: I received an invitation from one group owner who  has not been logged onto gather since 27 June 2006 and who by their name -- 0000-namespace-0000 --  is listed by gather as having departed ... how can this invitation happen ?!?!?

I have been just saying "yes" to any and all invitations - group and personal.
I'll check them out in my spare time - especially since I have not gotten anywhere NEAR your quantity.

This reminds me that I need to clean out my groups page - I can't keep up either! Though I'm not as popular as you are with 19 invites in one day!!

I really do not want to be groped! I just joined a few groups but these are people
I am familiar with from my Gather site. As long as they keep it clean I have no problem. Thanks for this article MrBill.

(Do all us Bills have to look so much alike? Granted we're all ruggedly handsome; but I hate for the women folk to get confused.)

;-) I had to laugh at your title........ Thank you for reminding me that I have to pare down the groups in which I'm a member. It is becoming very hard to know the proper groups in which to publish which articles.

What I can't understand is why my little icon keeps displaying the number 4 as if there were invitations waiting for me - then when I go there the page is empty. It started with that time Tamara's little son created a group on her account behind her back, and she had that deleted. But since then three more false invitations appeared, and I can't get rid of this ever-increasing group of non-invitations. I wonder if anyone else has this problem.

Linda if you have your settings blocking adult content, they could be hiding those groups from you.
Turn off your block, and decline them if you still want to block adult content. Then the little icons will go away.

Oh, and don't forget to turn you block back on! I've never had any nasty surprises, but I suppose it could happen.

Bill your too funny. I sent you an invite to the GA group. Are you spending too much time on Gather? do you get overwhelmed wondering when your next article is to be posted? Sleepless nights, finger joint pain? If so, You need a GA Meeting. We have coffee and donuts waiting for ya. If not you can always become a sponsor for so many of us gather addicts. We are always looking for a few good gatherites my man!!

8"x10"s ...hmmm... I suppose I could have some of those printed up as well.
I already ordered 24"x32" lithographs for the giftshop, they will be available framed or unframed. Besides the usual fridge magnets, keychains, coffee mugs and t-shirts, I had another concept that I will run by you Donna - My Naked Self Door Mats and Toilet Brushes. Think they will sell?
