I watched you spar tonight,
The sweat on your body,
Determination on your face.
It tore me in two,
Separating me from my common sense,
Making me foolish and babbling.
There is no part of you,
Not one, that I do not want.
I want the pain and ugliness of your past.
In equal parts, I want your future.
Your hope and the days to come.
I want the anger, the rage.
As I watch you fight,
Working your hands to win something, anything.
I want to be won.
I want you to turn and want me.
To be pursued and stormed and captured.
I want to surrender.
Is there no challenge?
Is that why you haven’t turned and taken?
Must you always have a fight?
