Occupancy levels at Walt Disney World hotels are a well-guarded secret.
Most hotels & resorts are not fully booked at any given time, rooms are set aside for walk-ins or celeb (as in Disney's case).
Also consider cancellations. I have called on a Thursday afternoon for a room for Friday, Saturday & have had no problem, on-site and off site.
But Disney recently gave a glimpse into the big role it plays in Central Florida's lodging industry with a revealing statistic:
Last year, it contributed 33 percent of all resort-tax dollars collected in Orange County, and 22 percent of Osceola County's collections.
Disney has more than 24,000 hotel rooms in 22 company-owned resorts.
Also there are another 111,000 hotel rooms in the Orlando area, according the Smith Travel Research.

We went to WDW a week after 9/11 & there was No wait for attractions. We also went in Oct. Nov. & in Dec. 2001, and again no waits at any time. It took a bit of time for attendance to go back up, Disney never lowered prices, the question was aked by a Floria newspaper about attendance & would lowering prices help, and Disney said "We will not lower prices on rooms or tickets."
The All-Stars is the cheapest room at WDW, you can get the room for 69.00 at the lowest rate & 129.00 at the highest rate.
