When to throw out food?

I saw this articel on today.com and thought that it was great. I am one of those people that never really knows how long food should be saved.  I tend to toss stuff way too early, well at least that is what my fiance says, he thinks that we should keep things longer, and I am the one that is afraid that we might get sick.  ANyway, this article was interesting and I thought that I would share the link

I've seen this too.

I still keep stuff in my freezer longer than they say. I've haven't died yet. Haha!

I remember that there was something like this way back, in Real Simple which is one of my favorite magazines, I remember thinking that it was great to have the info, but I do not think Ir eally used the info
