Hi, Mary--You should have seen it moments later when the neighbor's cat sprang at them (unsuccessfully). The birds beat their wings to the sky, dragging leaves for effect. The cat just sat there perplexed and watched them scatter.
Wonderful! This has a well crafted arc Bill; very satisfying close with "You knew lay squirming beneath" established with much color and sensuality couched in this spring's season's of the life cycle. Ahhh!

Very nicely done, I'm going to have to check out some of these two-word challenges sometime. They sound like good exercises. Who would've thought that the words "You Knew" would elicit images of birds hunting worms? As always, well done, Jim.
