Great Grandma’s Wood Cooking Stove
One day my great grandpa showed me how to split some wood for grandma’s cooking stove. He sat a piece of wood on top of a stump and used an ax to chop a piece off it so it would fit in grandma stove. It took me awhile but I finally got a bunch split.
I took some of what I had split into the kitchen where my great grandmother, my grandma and my mother were making supper. Great grandma showed me how to put the wood in the side of the wood stove where the fire was already burning.
I stuffed that stove full of wood, when it burned down a little I stuffed some more in, great grandma stopped me, said that I had enough wood in the stove.
Grandma made fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. We had corn on the cob that she had picked from the garden; she even made biscuits. There was slice tomatoes that came from the garden too. There was apple pie for dessert, with a scoop of ice cream on top.
Boy was it ever good; I thought supper tasted even better that day because I put the wood in the stove.

And this was a cute story. Hope to see more from you.
I can see and smell the good-food smells coming from that wood stove. Nothing tastes better than the things that you helped with, or at least it sure seems that way. I love to cook too and don't have a wood stove, but I sure won't have a microwave either. I cook on the stove or oven only. Back when, the things that our Grandparents took the most time with, always came out the best and I still think that's true today.
Loved this!
