I just came back from the funeral of an old musician buddy of my late Father’s. I attended the church services prior to the burial and was amazed and horrified at the lack of respect and decorum exhibited by a majority of attendees. To start off there were children running around and shouting loudly all the while the parents looked on with delight and amusement. Besides being in church were attending a solemn ceremony mourning the passing of a human being. I would think the parents of these children would have some even a little conscience and some how wrangle their spoiled brats and keep them in check.
Now even thou this poor parenting caused a great deal of disruption that was nothing compared to the constant ringing of cell phones. During the service I heard not one, not two, not three, but five phones go off with the typical asinine ring tones. I myself had the common sense and decency to mute my phone. Not only did I recognize I was in a church but I also understood that I was attending a highly emotional and charged religious ceremony. I wonder what these individuals were thinking we they let their phones ring and ring and then finally answering with a loud and disrupting tone. What has become of the manners and respect I was brought up with? Perhaps I should have done what my first instinct was. I should have walked up to the first idiot with the ringing cell phone grab his phone and smashed it on the floor. I more than sure everyone would have made sure their ringers were off. So next time you or someone you know is breaking the common rules of phone etiquette look around because there might be someone who might just teach you the proper way to hang-up a ringing phone.

It's very unfortunate, how did we ever get to this point, when did this all start, I think it started in 60's with the "me" generation and has been getting worse and worse every year. What to do, I don't honestly know....
