I published one of my grandson Kyle's poem here on Gather yesterday because it was his 13th birthday. Then I realized that I hadn't given his sister Kayla equal attention on her 14th birthday in September. Both are fine young poets so here is one of Kayla's many poems.
WHATS THE FIGHTING FOR ?
I do not understand the war
What all the pain and fightings for
I may be just a kid
with an idea that's wrong;
But why can't we all just get along?
There's not just war in Iraq
but in our country as well.
Against homelessness, hunger,
sickness and abuse too.
And half our country stares blank
like there's nothing we can do.
Why can't the world take action
and change?
I know for sure we can help
and do so much more.
So excuse me, but I still don't get
what all the fightings for.

I'm glad to see you on line today, considering what we're hearing on the news about the weather in Iowa. I assume you have electricity or you couldn't post. How much snow? What a storm!
You have such valid questions. Keep writing and publishing more poems. You have promise.
stand that you take against the war, the homeless, people going hungry, and the rest of the afflictions on our Nation. God Bless you child. (Hugs) Barbara B.
