VILLAGE SET UP
The village plan above is just one of many that can be developed. This plan assumes that the city has everything available or located before the disaster strikes. This is one block square, which simplifies the caring, as only one corner has to be the source of peoples needs. The blocks adjacent to the service area provide village expansion if required. This permits expansion while still staying within walking distance of the services.
This entire set up can be purchased as built, and stored at a disaster-proof area near the city, where it can be moved to the disaster area in a hurry and set up like a fast moving circus. The reason I am showing this example is that it gives the extreme village for long time recovery, with everything reusable when cleaned and stored for the next disaster. It also will provide enough comfortable living that the survivors will be able to live there for as long as it takes for them to rebuild the area.
KITCHEN
It is suggested that the kitchen be made and designed by a manufacturer that specializes in large portable trailer units. This will help ensure that all the food and safety handling codes are complied with. One concept would be to buy the largest roadable kitchen unit with a mating food preparation and storage unit that can cool and freeze the food as necessary. In these two units, it would also be recommended that stainless steel construction be used as much as possible to provide easiest clean up during use. In addition, the stainless construction will withstand storage when no disasters are at hand. These can be purchased or rented, however purchase is recommended as rental units could become scarce if a disaster hits. One set should be in your storage, but specifications should be set up with the manufacturer to supply more units for large disasters. Note: Semi portable units as large as 36 x 100 ft can be readily stored and assembled on site for larger disaster planning areas.
SHOWERS AND TOILETS
It is recommended that these be made to the latest sanitation codes in your area and if any code items are in doubt, that these be included so as to maintain longest service life of the units. These units should be of stainless and aluminum construction with all piping stainless or code approved plastic. All fixtures should be of stainless easy cleaning design and construction. Units can be purchased fully assembled in mobile design that can be just set in place and piped up to your supply. It is suggested that a minimum of one of each of maximum road design be maintained in the storage area, with the specifications set up for fast manufacture and delivery from the manufacturer for larger disasters. Note: Semi mobile unit as large as 36 x 100 ft are available in road delivery and fast joining for an operating unit ready for use. These would be a consideration for larger disaster planning.
DINING
Like the kitchens, it is possible to purchased large road units that will be easy to store and maintain. It is recommended that these be manufactured of stainless steel and aluminum, and meet all the area's food safety codes. Note: Semi-mobile units as large as 36 x 100 ft are available fully furnished for field assembly when needed. One of these units would be a recommended part of the storage plan. This is also an area where pre-fabricated building designs can be used with little problems.
