As February draws to a rapid end, I'm back at work and we are back at Borders in Hyannis MA for our weekly writing/drawing session. We should be arriving there around 7:00 PM. We got some snow yesterday, but today was warmer and the white stuff is melting rapidly. Still a good night for hot tea and some writing. Gynn will be joining me as usual. Lori already emailed to say she would not be making it. No word from Miranda or Lynette.
Last week's goals: Write one poem, begin work on my next story in the Luminations series for The Edge of Propinquity, write one script for my comic strip The Hearth, read and review two comics.
Last week's results: Pretty good all 'round. I wrote a poem, a script for The Hearth, and read and reviewed four comics. I got a little bit done on my story, so I met the goal of getting it started, but it was only a slight bit of a start, and I haven't gone back to it since then. I think it needs some more mulling, so I'm not going to try to force it tonight.
This week's goals: Instead, I'm going to try to get some little things done. I'm bringing the last issue of my APA, Phoenix, and I'm going reread it and write MCs for my next zine. I'm also going to work on reformatting my Boskone report for my zine. As for work on my story, I'd like to locate a good quote to start the story off with (each story in my current series starts with a quote from literature). I've picked out the book I want to quote from; just need to locate a copy (fortunately we're in a colossal bookstore) and find what I'm looking for. I'm also looking to read and review one or two comics or possibly a manga book. So I'm planning on a fairly low-key night, although if I get momentum on my story I'll certainly go with it.
Question of the week: What is your favorite non-technological writing tool?
Mine goes back a way to when I was writing a lot of gaming materials, and I don't use it all that often, but it's very helpful when I do: Graph paper. There are times when you just need to make a map in order to keep things straight.
As always, if you're writing tonight, check in, share your goals and progress, support your fellow writers, answer this week's question if you'd like, and have a good creative evening!
