As many of you know, I have predicted that Al Gore and Mitt Romney would be the respective nominees of the Democratic and Republican party for the 2008 Presidential election. In my opinion, a critical prerequisite for the Gore prediction to occur is that Gore (or his team) win at least one Oscar for "An Inconvenient Truth". So, let me ask the smartest and most insightful group of people I know (fellow Gatherites) the following:
1) Will Gore/his team win at least one Oscar? If so, how many?
2) If he/they win, how many will they win, and for which award(s)?
3) If he/they win, will he announce his Presidential candidacy?
4) Finally, if he announces, when will he do so? Tonight? 2-3 days from now? A week from now? A month? When?
The telecast begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time. If I'm still awake, I'll publish an article bragging about my brilliance or stating how stupid I am! As always, I look forward to your responses!!

Sweet.
Gore, as deadpan as if he were a "Saturday Night Live" regular, responded: "I'm kind of surprised that the feeling's so welling up here -- actually, you've been very convincing. And even though I honestly had not planned on doing this, I, I guess with a billion people watching, it's as (theatrical pause) good a time as (sighs) any. So, my fellow Americans, (laughter as he pulls a vertically folded sheaf of papers from the breast pocket of his Ralph Lauren tux), I'm going to take this opportunity right here and now, to formally announce – "
Then the orchestra burst in with the swelling music that's used to usher off long-winded winners. "— My intention —" Gore continued, then was drowned out and walked off arm in arm with DiCaprio, to laughter and applause.
Nanci - yeah, like the right never resorts to namecalling.
Well, Gore won two Oscars for his film. Hate to disappoint you but I've heard nothing about his running for the presidency. I think you're just going to have to accept the fact that someone else will be the democratic candidate!
Again, the country boy recognizes the risk of challenging your professional political acumen but what the heck, I've got guts!
Thanks!
If I was a Democrat, I'd wholeheartedly hope he was running. Do you think he will or won't get in?
I don't think he'll run unless he truly believes that he simply has to - and it will be much closer to Election Day. At this point, it's anyone's to win and noone's to lose (as far as the Democratic nomination goes).
Just a note about Gore's so-called lack of attention to Bin Laden when he was in office - it has been verified on oath that the Clinton Administration specifically told the incoming Bush Administration that Bin Laden / Al Qaeda was the number one priority and - well - we all know what happened.
The days of "draft ________" are, I believe, history. Andy candidate who waits on a movement to "draft" them won't be part of the picture.
Greg,
Nice Icon!
