Hollywood Is Ready for its Big Day!                               The limousines have been charged up, the hairdressers and stylists have worked their magic and the stars are ready to stroll down the red carpet in dresses that have been begged, borrowed or --perish the thought-- brought!
And, of course, the champagne is on ice and the trendy parties booked. Hollywood is ready for its big night -- the Oscars. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â This is the evening of the 79th Academy Awards. It is a night when the Motion Picture of the Year is awarded to the best film, along with the best performances by an actor and actress. And the many, others who are extremely gifted & quite brilliant individuals who give of their talent, time & efforts to produce a film that is worthy of the Oscar. And we the public are fortunate to be able to view their master pieces on the screen, they allow us to laugh, to cry and most of all to give us a few hours to be able view a world we may not have access too, to escape from our everyday life and they provide us with entertainment!
Earlier today, I came across short film that will not be given an award or even recognize this evening.      To me it may be among one of the most prolific films I have seen in a while -- with a message I feel is most worthy of viewing. It made me rethink about the "red carpet stroll." It made me realize wouldn't it be wonderful if all the monies spent on limousines, jewelry, clothes and parties for just one night -- instead could possible be put to use in other areas as this film suggests. Certainly, not taking away the awards, nor the many deserving accolades, the Oscar or Oscar night...for all these talented people most definitely are deserving of many honors and we as the public are so privilege to be allowed to share & view the most magical performances past & present of these truly great STARS...This evening everyone who has put their efforts into making a film is indeed a star and a winner.                                                         Â

This film states for $5000 could cover the cost of hair and make-up for one day on set in LA. or pay for one year's schooling for 145 girls in Afganistan. Sarah McLachian does the math and encourages you to join her in this effort. As do I...
I wrote this piece exactly one year ago...Somehow, it felt right to republish this article today. Hopefully, one day Hollywood may agree...Let's have a non-party & devote the monies to where it may be truly needed and much welcome.
Enjoy, the non-party and the lovely voice of Sarah McLachian...

Felicia, Thanks! I am not trying to say that Hollywood does not deserve their accolades & awards -- they do. Yet, they seem to be the ones always jumping on or against a cause..
well it's time to stop with the photo -ops and take action. The best action is to give up the night of 'glitter.' Save a child, feed the hungry, help our elder citizens, stop abuse & support our troops!! That is a party I would like to be invited to. A non party. -) mo-zy
not for another photo-op. They are still more then deserving of their awards...even more so
in my mind if they did a "non party." TY, K. ~mo-zy
Melissa, It was my pleasure...glad you enjoy the link. I think it spoke volumes of what needs to be done. My suggestion is a "non- party" on Oscar night and give the money where it can to a lot of good. TY. ~mo-zy P.S. I love you're comments and the bantering in the most delightful way between you & peter w.
Patricia, Nice to see you this evening! Glad you enjoy the link . And, joining in on what I am now calling & advocating for Hollywood and many others to forget the glitter let's do a "non-party." Put the money, where it truly will do a lot of good...helping others. ~mo-zy
That was so heart-touching~perhaps, if we all did just one little thing to tread lighter on our earth~a "non-party" is exactly what can be done!
Love, light, and blessings~Mama T
Mama T, Good evening! Welcome to our "non-party." Perhaps, I may start a group with that name. For all the people who give of themselves or know of people, places, that are in need of our help. Sometimes it's simply being a friend that needs a kind word to be said. Something, you my friend do so well! Enjoy our "non-party! blessings, mo-zy
Lynx, Thanks! When you do the numbers it is shocking and frighteningly appalling of events such as tonight. Again, I am not trying in any way to suggest that Hollywood or everyone should not celebrate, enjoy, & be award by all for their achievements and accomplishments. Let's all do it with grace & sensibility and in a sensible manner. No more excess...less is in. ~ mo-zy
Tim, A big LOL....Me thinks, if you were to buy the "obligatory" BHills mansion -- it may set you back more then 2 mil + so there goes you're extremely generous offer of 5k to the poor, suffering innocents.
Hmmm...you may have to buy in Brentwood or on the fringe of Bel Air.
I feel you are more the 'cowboy' type why not go to Santa Barbara or Rancho Santa Fe -- have a stable of horses and I'm sure you would have a lot of visitors -- myself including!!
Glad, you like the piece...welcome to the "non-party." ~ mo-zy
Oh boy those are fighting words...choose your weapon-sir!! ~mo-zy
Gives us cause to think.
I just felt it was time to rethink & republish this article I wrote a year ago. ox, mozy ps. thanks for the lovely card. promise I will call soon.
