We live in a very small country town. EVERYONE thinks he is a girl. I can have him dressed in jeans and a tshirt with with cars or dinosaurs on it and people will tell me how pretty my girl is. My husband wants to take him to town naked. Maybe then they'd figure it out! My 6 year old daughter has started telling people, "That's my BROTHER. He is a boy." The wal-mart greeter is the worst! Maci tells that lady everytime, regardless of weather Quinlan is with us or not. She is getting a little irritated. I want to find a SpongeBob shirt that says, "I am 100% Ma-Male!" for him.
I get so tired of telling people, "He is a boy." I wonder if they think I dress my "girl" like a boy sometimes too. My husband went for a haircut once and the lady asked, "Oh..only the one haircut?" while looking at Quin. That irritated me too. I informed her that she would not be cutting Quins hair. I wasn't all that nice about it either.
I wish people would stop putting "Musts" on people. Girls "Must" have long hair. Boys "Must" have short hair. Girls "Must" play with dolls. Boys "Must" like bugs. Quin does like bugs and cars and things but still...he likes to help me cook too. My daughter on the other hand would much rather help her Dad fix the car. Why can't people just let people be themselves?

Quin is a handsome, happy, healthy, ENERGETIC, sweet little boy. I might be a little biased, he is, after all my grandson. And he does have the most beautiful hair!
Your son is adorable and keep writing about these important issues that are facing today's society!
Long live the longhairs!
My son is growing his hair now and it is quite long but you can still see that he´s a boy! But, in school he has a friend who is really girly but doesn´t seem to care. According to my son he was teased in the beginning but he seemed not to care. That´s amazingly strong because we all know about group preasure.
The other day, I saw this boy in school when picking up my son and I could hardly believe my eyes! I haven´t seen him for a long time now and he was not recognizable! The most beautiful long and curly hair you can emagine! Not only that it was extremely long (all the way passing his bum!), it was so girly! A fantastic cascade of blond wavy hair embedded him and on top of that, he wore a girl´s coat! Yes, he was very sweet and he seemed all okay about it! The girls around him cued to comb his hair - I guess they envied him!
But, as I said, very, very brave of him to withstand all the looks from others just to be himself! The other boys didn´t seem to bother at all.
My very blond, almost white haired boy came home with a buzz cut! His hair was long and like you I had comments but like you who freaking cares you know?
My 16 yrs old his hair is to his belt now. His over 6' frame and mustache and parchel beard proves he is all boy. My youngest copies him too. My oldest cut his, but he dropped by today and he is growing it out.
Ask any person who feels your boy or my boys should get a hair cut if they feel women have equal rights, when they say yes ask them why can't boys too? We are somewhat lucky we live in Oregon (quit a few long hairs here), but we still have problems, and my guy is long hair too. I dare anyone to challenge my guy..... lol! My guy of course gives my boys the courage to be who ever they want.
Your boy someday might just say, "mom, I want a hair cut". The way I see it, it is there body.
In the response to the school post up there ;0)
