I just happened to look to the left on my Gather page and saw that the top Suggested Group that Gather is recommending to me is "AARP: Living At Its Best!"
Well, don't be surprised if you receive info. from AARP before you are 50. And I wouldn't suggest AARP services to anyone. Their costs are outrageous. I was checking into them for my mother. Ridiculous!!! Thought they were supposed to be helping seniors not ripping them off.
If it makes you feel any better, all members see the same list of recommended groups, no matter what age, interests, or activity on Gather. It would be nice if they add some contextual recommendations based upon our personal interests at some point.
I'm like you Mitch....unless they're going to offer me one heck of a discount somewhere fun, forget AARP stuff for awhile....I'm not in the mood for it and while getting old is inevitable, I don't intend to go down easily, I'll be kicking and screaming the entire time!
