On February 15th, I posted an article about our American Idol Addiction. You can view that article and the comments here: http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474976911465 if you'd like. At the time, the final 24 contestants were just announced and I posted my article talking about who my favorites were.
My early favorite guys were Chris Sligh, Sundance Head and Sanjaya Malakar. (these have now changed)
My early favorite girls were Gina Glocksen, Leslie Hunt and Antonella Barba. (these have now changed too)
Now when I say "favorite", it's not my prediction as to who will WIN, I'm just letting you know who I am rooting for. To be perfectly honest with you... If I wasn't over the age requirement for the show (I'm 31), I would actually try out for American Idol. I probably wouldn't make it that far, but it would be fun to surprise people with my singing abilities as well as just be able to say that I did it.
After seeing the guys perform on Tuesday night, I was very disappointed.
Sundance was the one who disappointed me the most, because he was a favorite of mine. He MIGHT survive tonight's cut if America voted enough for him, but I was actually embarrassed for the guy while watching him perform. Ouch. So which guys do I think will be going home tonight? If Sundance actually makes it through, then I pick Paul Kim and either Chris Richardson (who reminds me of a bad Justin Timberlake/Kevin Federline combo) or Rudy Cardenas to go home. I STILL really like Chris Sligh and Sanjaya Malakar, and now I've added Blake Lewis to my list of favorites.
I just finished watching the girls perform a few hours ago.
No doubt about it that one of my early favorites, Antonella Barba, should be going home. I honestly don't know why I picked Antonella, but when I wrote the other article last week I felt like I needed to pick a 3rd girl, since I had 3 guys. So I just picked her. The only other girl that even stuck out to me then was Lakisha and I couldn't even remember how she sang... I just remembered that she was a single mom and I always root for single moms! Now I wish I would have picked Lakisha from the beginning, because it's obvious that she's either going to win the whole thing, or come VERY close. Lakisha's performance blew us all away and Stephanie, Sabrina and Melinda all did extremely well. Gina has been my girl from the beginning and I hope she goes far. I was hoping for more out of her, but she did a DARN good job and I still like her a ton. I liked Amy's performance, but I do agree with Randy when he said it was "too urban" for her. I still think she rocked the house and not too many people can pull a song like that off. One of my other early favorites was Leslie and while she was performing, my 10 year old son and I kept looking at each other, then looking at the way she was so awkwardly dancing around and saying "WHY is she doing that?!?" so we thought that was great that they talked about how she looked like she was "out of her comfort zone". That's exactly what she looked like. I hope she makes it to the next round, I'd like to see if she can redeem herself. So which girls do I think will be going home tonight? Antonella Barba and either Haley Scarnato or Alaina Alexander.
Tonight FOX will be airing America's Vote, sending 2 guys and 2 girls home.
You've read my picks, now who do YOU think will be sent home?Â
