Jon Marr had just turned 24 years old and stood a little over 5 feet 6 inches tall. Slightly overweight at 160 lbs he was still fit enough to jog 5 miles each morning. Jon had all ready lived a life time by the time he had joined the police force and it showed in the fire that burned behind his pale blue eyes. It was because of his eyes and his non regulation long blond hair that he was christen with the name of Gabriel the Avenging Angel by his adversaries and his brother's in blue.
However, even thou Jon Marr was a straight and honest cop, sometimes to a fault, he was no angel. If you crossed the line, no matter who you were, Jon was the last person you would want pursuing you. Jon Marr's best asset was his persistence. He would never let something go, just because it was easier than confronting it head on. This is what made him one of the best detectives on the major crimes squad. Jon would say it was his taste in designer suites and shoes, which made him the best. But everyone knew that Lt. Jon (Gabriel) Marr was the best, because he always took a crime against the public as personal. That is why when his neighbor's little girl was kidnapped he fought tooth and nail to be assigned the case. His commander, Captain Escobar, was against from the start. But after Jon called in a few favors, Escobar reluctantly agreed to give the case to Marr.
So that is how we come to find Lt Jon Marr in a dark abandon warehouse at the outskirts of Alphabet City. His neighbor's daughter was now outside safe and sound in his locked SUV and Jon cautiously crept up the stairs with his drawn Dirty Harry special in his hands. He could hear muffled laughter just beyond the door at the top of the stairs. Jon cocked back the hammer, took a deep breath and then kicked the door open. What he saw as he violently pushed his way in was evil enough to coldly stop the blood of even a veteran cop like himself. There on the couch was another little girl with a half naked scum on top of her. This was more than even he could take. He rushed the dirt bag, grabbing him by the hair; he swung him against the nearest wall. Without thinking or in spite of it, he pointed his gun and fired. Bang Bang Bang Bang that was the last sound Ruben Lopez, convicted sex offender and recently released, ever heard. Jon looked over to the couch where the girl was sitting in a fetal position. He grabbed a blanket he saw near by and covered the now crying child. He picked her up and took her out to his truck where his neighbor's daughter was waiting.
Jon (Gabriel the Avenging Angel) picked up the mike to his radio. "This Lt. Marr coming in. I have the kidnapped victim plus one. Out." Jon took one last look at the warehouse, put his SUV into gear and drove out into the night.
(This is the beginning of a new story and a character I am working on)
