My dog Misty snuggles up beside me on my bed and keeps me warm all the time. For some reason it never makes the paper. Little boys have snuck their puppy to bed for centuries now for a good reason. In cold weather our friend helps keep us warm. All else get a water bottle or listen to your partner snore. Just recently another canine friend helped save some lives.

Rescuer says dog kept stranded climbers warm

Officials are partly crediting a brave dog for the survival of three climbers, stranded on Oregon's Mount Hood after they fell from a ledge.

Two women and one man tumbled 30 metres on the mountain Sunday, and their dog -- a black Labrador named Velvet -- jumped after them.

Hi there, Wendy. Thanks for sharing this Oregon story with us. I was also amazed by this neat dog. They took turns laying on her to stay warm and when they were all rescued... everyone was in good spirits. Only one person had to be sent to the hospital for a head injury. In other news, I made an Avatar of myself in the typical Oregon weather, see?

Haha, and yes... I AM wearing a tank top. It's my normal outfit, to be totally honest with you. I layer it with a thin sweatshirt, but they didn't have any sweatshirts on that site. So there I am, standing in the Oregon rain in a tank top!
