The jay swooped down, loudly squawking,
The squirrel raced off, hardly balking--
To the nest was the goal,
The nut dropped in the hole,
The exploit well marked by proud barking.

Nearly called it "Nut Lane Football", d m., and turned"exploit", into "touchdown". You're a very perceptive fellow--as always! Thanks.
The cardinals chirp doctrinaire orders.
The nesting squirrels check on their borders.
The mourning dove cooing, the coffee is brewing,
while humans now stir in their quarters.
I am grateful for what you do.
Raucous birds, aren't they! Thanks, Wiaka. :-)
And your limericks put a wide grin on my face, David. Thank you.
They are!! And they were- especially this past season :P
Uh-oh, Lisa. This is going to sound REALLY weird, but . . . I didn't follow the 2006 season. Please don't slink off into the night shaking your head, though. 2007 is coming and I promise to do better. :-)
Nice limerick btw!
