Waken now, for the fool has been dealt

and a new path lies ahead

you have learned from the west now time to prepare

elders will return to help bury the young

go north …the crisp arctic air will ease the changing winds

go south and learn the ancient secrets of the land

go east…familiar land yet still unknown

return holding cup steady and patient

for the foundation is heavy and will soon fall apart

forgive them for their destruction and lies

love them and feed them even if they are not hungry

What is the about? I sort of relate it to when the settlers came and the indians were relocating... but not sure if that is what you are meaning with it.

Wow. This is very fine. Has the pronounced feel of urgency. In cosmic spiritual terms it is like the Advent of Christ, like the 'new heavens and the new earth' Very apocalyptic in an excited and hopeful vein. The action of the four directions gives the sense of an emerging completeness, even while anouncing upheaval for what was....new path, changing winds, foundation soon to fall apart; mending from the past and nourishment for the emerging world. Works as a theme for the person as well as for the cosmos. Thank you for an excellent poem.

I think it is about the fall of Christianity. But, it is still trying to sink in.

The fool in tarot represents a new adventure/path; my new exploration into Reiki; East is familiar only in past lives; Elders are the gods who will be ready to assist in bringing new light and future growth. Old or familiar ways will vanish.

the cup represents lessons learned...lol
the directions are worldly...North is the artic, south as in South America - Peru to be exact, East is middle east, so west is home. I'm happy its provoking your thoughts

What I get from this wonderful piece is the start of a new life, or at least starting over in life by taking time for yourself to find yourself in different aspects of life. To search for who we are on a more spiritual level to obtain/regain balance after trying times. "Prepare" as the title would lead me to believe that it is about the mental, emotional, and spiritual preparations one needs to tend to before moving on with your life when possibly changing directions. Instead of being about changing life's direction after a troublesome time, it could just be about getting back on focus in ones life, akin to meditation to restore and revive our soul.

Just a thought (or two!)

It is about life, and warnings, to stop, think before proceeding in anyone direction and possibly finding you need to change direction in your life at any given time. It is about making choices right or wrong and having to live with the results. Some can be altered and others cannot.
