Back yard bird count starts today are you going...

I am sending this out to remind those who are not in my bird group Feathers

that the back yard bird count starts today.

And dont forget the are also having a photo contest.

I hope eveyone who can will participate it would be nice to see some gather members place in the contest there are some really talented photographers out there so come on everyone join in on the count.

It's been years since I've seen a cardinal...such a beautiful bird, so royal and majestic. I know my backyard will be visited by many birds living on the water next to the downtown business district. Living here for two years, I know I won't be getting a wide variety of birds...just the usual robins, starlings, sparrows, crows and seagulls. At my previous home here in the same town, also on the waterfront two blocks away, there was quite the range of feathered visitors, including many waterfowl who chose to make there home along the water's edge. And quite regularly, at that location, a pair of Great Blue Herons would swoop in.

They are pretty birds, I can't seem to get pictures of them as soon as I open the door or come near they all fly away. I will try a bit closer to summer when I have a lot of them.

I agree with Bonnie, it is so hard for me to get a picture. It is still below freezing here and I don't think I'll see any birds of interest until April.

Thanks for the reminder! It's supposed to warm up this weekend, to just below freezing, so maybe I'll have more visitors to my feeders this weekend.

I love the beautiful red bird, I have been trying for a week to get a shot of our yellowtail black cockatoo,they are up in the big pines on the hill, but they have been coming too late in the day ,almost dark, will keep trying Darcey D.
