If you haven't Stumbled across this site before, you are in for a chuckle. The name of it is Plain Language.gov . Who knew the government even had a sense of humor! :) As you can see from the title, the humor begins right away.
How to Write Good
(some examples)
- Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.
- Avoid cliches like the plague—they're old hat.
- Employ the vernacular.
- Eschew ampersands & abbreviations, etc.
- Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are unnecessary.
- Parenthetical words however must be enclosed in commas.
- It is wrong to ever split an infinitive.
- Contractions aren't necessary.
- Do not use a foreign word when there is an adequate English quid pro quo.
I hope you will find them as amusing as I did.
52. And always be sure to finish what

It's been a long day!
Splitting verbs is another "Elements of Style" pet peeve of mine, though small: "She is also working on her blog," for instance, really should be "She also is working on her blog."
Anyhow, I'm glad to see you're keeping up on English quid pro quo. I believe that Gatherites provide living examples of what the best bloggers in America have to offer, and certainly writing English good (lol) should be a component.
