I have been on Gather since August of 2006, and have yet to admit something very important to you, so I will do this now. I am a Reality TV addict, and I don't even want to stop... because waching Reality TV honestly makes me feel better about myself. Especially when the shows I'm watching are filled with drama and gossip. I love drama as long as it's not in MY life and I love gossip as long as it's not about ME.
This confession brings me to my American Idol addiction. Last night, the judges narrowed down the contestants to the final 24 people: 12 girls and 12 guys. You can view these final 24 hopefuls here: http://www.americanidol.com/contestants/season6/
To be perfectly honest with you... If I wasn't over the age requirement for the show, I would try out for American Idol. I probably wouldn't make it that far, but it would be fun to surprise people with my singing abilities as well as just be able to say that I did it. Â
I had my favorites from the beginning, and although some of my favorites (like Bailey) have been booted from the competition... some of my favorites have actually made it to the top 24. This excites me, because I really like to be able to root for someone. I hate it when I don't really care one way or the other who wins or loses.Â
Â
For the guys I'm rooting for:
Sundance Head
Â
Â
Â
Â
Sanjaya Malakar
Â
Â
Â
Â
Chris Sligh
Â
Â
Â
Â
For the girls I'm rooting for:
Leslie Hunt
Â
Â
Â
Â
Gina Glocksen
Â
Â
Â
Â
Antonella Barba
Â
Â
Â
Â
Do you watch American Idol?
Do you have any favorites?
Who do you think will win? Â
Â
Thanks, everyone!

I love AI. The auditions are -great-, but I love the songs when they start singing with the -good- people.
Heather T: I really liked Gina last year too - I'm so glad she's back. I also like Lakisha Jones as well, and you're so right: she's super nice and polite and is so strong when she sings. She's also a single mother, which makes me really want to root for her. I think even if she doesn't win - she'll still make something of herself.
Bridget A: That's great that you really like Sundance... I think he'll go really far.
And honestly, I didn't watch last night because there's really no one left that I like all that much.
:)_
don't know who my fav is yet, probably the overweight black lady with the daughter, her voice was awesome.
I watched last night and thought they let some thru who didn't sing as good and let go others who did not sound that good!
It's nice to meet some other people who like american idol.
My dh leaves the room or the house so he doesn't have to hear it.
Leslie is my favorite girl
Hi, Bridget: Yes... as far as I've found, there are 2 American Idol groups on Gather. There is "American Idol 2007" and "American and Canadian Idol Group lovers".
Alicia Storey: Yeah for the American Idol fanatics on Gather! That is so cool that you guys picked Taylor Hicks as the winner last year. The 1st year I pegged Kelly Clarkson as the winner, so I was pretty stoked about that. That's really neat that we like the same people as our favorites. I REALLY like Gina.
Also, for the reasons most people like the show, I don't. I don't like gossip unless it's about me. That's because if it's about me, I know it's not going to hurt me. I know whether a rumor is true or not and I figure those who spread rumors aren't very important so it doesn't matter if they believe a falsehood about me. If it is about someone else, I think of the damage it could do them and it pisses me off that someone could use such a passive aggressive way to get at people.
The other reason is because I don't like drama. Drama usually means someone is having a crisis. I'd just as soon people deal with the crisis and not drag it out.
Then, there's the fact that I've known so many incredible singers that aren't famous and don't have the backing to be famous so when I see a show that tries to make out that someone is totally awesome because they won a contest, which seems to have a lot of politics attached, I just think how fake hollywood is. It's part of the reason I moved away from LA. I don't like government politics or show biz politics. So, no AI for me.
Faith S: I love AI too! Too bad your hubby leaves so he doesn't have to hear it. Oh well, you have all of US to talk to about it!
ELAINE A: good picks!
Deanna P: good picks!
Bridget ~ Proud SAHM: Yeah, me too. Oh well... at least he still put out an album, right?
Teara P: You're right. That other guy was really good, in fact he was from MY neck of the woods, so I was hoping he'd get in.
Bonita P: Oh mom, you really need to just start watching it. Dad watches it, doesn't he?
Demetria D: He's such a little cutie, but I wish his sister was with him. I don't think he'll be as confident without her there, you know?
Jenna S: You know... I actually really liked Kat last year, but she reminds me too much of Katie Holmes and I used to like her before she got all brainwashed by Tom Cruise. I can understand the sour taste in your mouth from Antonella. She bugs me too... but I really do think she has a very nice voice. She isn't my TOP pick for females, but I figured I'd choose 3 since I have 3 top guys.
vickey w: Very stiff competition this year, and what I really like is that there's so much diversity. There are quite a few people that don't fit the "norm". I don't think Sundance was good in Hollywood either, I felt really bad for him and was really surprised when he actually made it through. I'm sure we'll all start to waiver a little bit as the competition goes on. We'll have to try to keep this conversation going.
Lynn R: Yes, I think there were a LOT of people who liked Bailey. I think she'll end up with an album or some kind of modeling/magazine deal. Like Simon said, she's VERY commercial. Her look reminded me some of Denise Richards actually, but a LOT cuter and a LOT more innocent. That is really cool that you have your whole family watching it now. My 10 year old son and I both watch it together.
Lisa M: I really like Hollywood week too... I would be SO nervous to do that!
Heather T: I feel the same way about Antonella as well, but I really do love her voice. She was my #3 pick for the girls, I just had to pick another girl since I have 3 favorite guys, heehee.
After seeing the guys perform Tuesday night, I was SO disappointed. I doubt highly if Sundance will even make it through now. I still really like Chris Sligh and Sanjaya. I really like Blake now too. Chris Richardson reminds me too much of a bad Justin Timberlake / Kevin Federline combo.
So, I always pick my favorites from the get-go and root for them. But once they fail miserably, they start to slip. So, Sundance slipped for me. He's not a favorite for me anymore. I feel like he failed me, hahaha. How sad is that?
For the women: Wow, no doubt about it... Lakisha blew us all away, and although she was not one of my "favs" from the beginning, I do think she will win, or at least get to the very end. Stephanie, Sabrina and Melinda all did extremely well and my favorite girl, Gina - still held strong.
I think a girl will win this year, but I'm just making that call from how horribly the guys did on Monday night.
Yup.. this really does look like "the" place for the women to hang out, haha. You know how we all get about our reality tv! Of course we don't mind a male joining the party. You are so right on about everyone that did well this time around. I was also a Katherine McPhee fan, that is of course, after Chris Daughtry got the boot. I wanted it to come down to Chris and Katherine and I didn't care who won, just as long as it was one of those 2. Obviously, I didn't get my wish - did I? I'll have to check out Eva Avila's music... I bet she's really good! Thanks again for stopping by and feel free to weigh in over at my newer article. I wish there was a way we could streamline this a little more, but unfortunately I don't think there is.
My favorite man (I really only like one of them): Blake. I did like Chris until his smart**s comment about Il Divo or Teletubbies (not that I care about either of them). I think there is a fine line between witty and sharp and just being a jerk. With that comment, he crossed the line for me.
