Slide It In was the mid-'80s offering from Whitesnake and it more than held its own in the fluctuating waters of music that 1984 offered. A ten track album, there are some excellent compositions available on this disc, such as the ever-popular "Love Ain't No Stranger" and the funky "Slow An' Easy". "Slide It In" has a heavy percussion feel to it while "Spit It Out" seems a natural title for a song on an album entitled Slide It In. "All Or Nothing" and "Guilty Of Love" are definate foot-tappers while "Gambler", "Hungry For Love", "Give Me More Time" and "Standing In The Shadow" are stand alone songs in their own right. Every now and then you can feel Coverdale's blues/Deep Purple roots try to bubble to the top only to be overcome with the rock vibe that brought Whitesnake their millions of fans. Slide It In is not Whitesnake's best album but it's definately in the top half of their discography.
David Coverdale was joined on this album by Jon Lord (keyboards), Mel Galley (guitar/vocals), John Sykes (guitar), Neil Murray (bass) and the legendary Cozy Powell (drums).
