If aliens ever openly come to this world, to participate in our society instead of exherting direct control over us, one of the first things that they will probably do is to join our religions. What better way is there to gain our trust? What better gesture of respect could *they* make?
Imagine ETs saying "We once had religion on our world, but we became corrupt and lost what was important. Now, we have travelled from a galaxy far, far away to learn from you, because you're so much wiser than us."
They might even say things like "Your planet has Jesus Christ," or "Your world has the Koran" as if every advanced civilization throughout the Universe knows about what we think is important. Are we that important? Does our world have something to offer that would bring *them* to us? Obviously some people, like Eric von Daniken, believe that *they* brought us our religion, but I'm asking "What if...?"
How would you feel about attending a church of your denomination where the spiritual services were led by ETs? Would you feel more inclined to trust ETs if they went to church with you?
