Hi everyone!
I have received a lot of emails concerning the house cleaning going on at our group, so I thought I'd address the topic here so that everyone could review.
A while back I had sent a message out to the group members stating that older pictures would soon be removed from the group. This was due to suggestions that all old content be removed and only the current month challenge be viewable. This makes it easier for the Guest Judges to discern what photos they will be reviewing for a particular month's challenge. I decided to also leave the previous month's winning photos as well. If you are newer to the group and did not receive that message, I apologize for the confusion it may have caused you.
I have placed aboard two new moderators to assist with the upkeep of the group and help approve content and so forth as I am not able to visit on a daily basis. They are new to this, so they may make a few mistakes and reject a photo that should have been accepted. If this happens and you are certain that your photo meets the group's current challenge, or was a previous winning photo... be certain to submit again. I don't expect it to take very long for our new moderators to get the hang of things, but while they are still learning, let's give them some room for error.
If your photo does not contain the current month's theme in the tag line or "Photography Challenge" it has the risk of being rejected. This is because so many photos are submitted in bulk to numerous groups and do not fit the criteria for the current month's challenge. It is not a personal issue nor have you done anything wrong, it is just that not all the photos submitted to the group are for the purpose of the challenge and therefore removed. If later that same photo meets the group challenge for another month, feel free to submit again.
As for articles, if it is photography related, it will be accepted. Also, all "Amber Alerts" will be accepted and any other public service announcements and such.
This is all in the attempt to make this group organized and on focus and to better serve the needs of the members. If anyone has any suggestions or concerns, please feel free to message me. I will answer all messages, even if it might take me a few days to respond. Please be patient as we undergo our house cleaning and look forward to the New and Improved look our group will soon acquire.

and since I am blacklisted from at least seven groups on Gather-- I relly don't care to submit anything here and watch it dissed.
I am one of the moderators Mary. Not a judge . . . only looking for the appropriate taglines and the photo meets the (very) general criteria. It must have (1) water and (2) light on it . . . uhhhhhh . . . like that icon! :) As far as I'm concerned it can be swirling down the drain in a restroom . . . or whatever. Not for me to like or dislike. (But please make sure the about section mentions it). oK?

Mary, I know nothing about you or anyone else that might submit a photo, as I have only been active on Gather for a little while. I will look at the photo's - PERIOD.

To address your concerns, all I can do is assure you that no one is going to reject a photo based on WHO submitted it. The only reason photos must go through authorization is to assure that they meet the current challenge's criteria. It's not a popularity contest nor do I wish it to become anything such. I don't do drama.... and although Gather is a melting pot of personalites, likes and dislikes, friendships or other... I will not allow it to become a source of stress. I cannot speak for other groups, but in THIS group, no one will be singled out or treated indifferently based on the going-ons in other circles or groups. I don't behave that way in the real world and would not accept such behavior here.
I do hope you continue to post your photos as desired, and would hate to see you not participate based on a few bad experiences in other parts of Gather.

oh and one way to keep from having to delete all those photos is make sure people only submit photos that have been uploaded during the month of the contest that fit your monthly topic. If they have a older photo they want to submit. require that they resubmit a newly uploaded photo. then these photos dont get lost in previous months photos. It works well for my show me your group. And our contests are weekly.
Just a bit more exposure that way. If this method becomes too gruelling, I might consider another. Thank again for the feedback.
