I know I havent been around much these last 2 months, mostly due to the back surgery I had before Christmas, the recovery was longer (and still going on) than I ever anticipated and I really wasn't in the mood much for doing anything except watching old movies on TV and the silly shows I like.
Due to the fact that I wasn't doing my routine one of my cats decided she didn't want anything to do with me..I worried so much about her,(still do) but now that I'm out of bed and back in the living room watching TV she seems to be coming out of her slump.
I wrote a few epinions and won some money...that was unexpectedly nice, so I bought a new Laptop, something I've wanted for a very long time now...What an amazing machine, I can actually sit in my easy chair and write comfortably that is until the heaviness of the thing starts to weigh on my knee and legs..trouble is. I've had to learn so many new things about this machine, and spend hours setting it up, tranferring picture files, etc, etc...tonight was the first time I actually figured out how to put a picture on gather from the way this new Window Vista is set up. but I', learning..and boy trying to get used to this keypad...yikes..and the mouse pad too..I did resort to using an optical mouse but I'm determined to learn this mousepad..it's so much more convenient..
Then to make matters even more confusing we decided to paint the house...both the outside and most of the inside...what did this mean? Well, no we didn't do the painting ourselves but we did have to get our plants out of the way and redo some landscaping...inside we had to remove all our paintings and photos from the walls and we had almost every wall covered with enlarged framed photos from our travels.. we also had to clean out some closets so the painters could do the trim on the doors...what a job that was! The big problem I have now is to be able to put those pictures back considering the painters took out all the nails... I do love the new colors so bright and cheerful only thing is that none of the matting on my pictures match...But I'll figure it out somehow without breaking my back..LOL
Another good thing is that while throwing away some old stuff I found a box with some very old pictures taken when my hubby was just a kid in Costa Rica...what a treasure find that was...one in particular of the textile shop my father in law had when he emigrated there from Europe just before the war...Their name is even on the storefront..
Anyway, I just thought I'd write this for anyone who might have wondered where I disappeared to...I'm back, but slowly, so I'll see you all around the site sooner or later...

Hope your back feels better soon.
and I do not relish the idea of moving any of it so hubby can paint. I keep making noises that maybe he postphone the painting , but he seems to have it on the brain . :- (
Anyway, glad you're back. But man. Vista? I am avoiding that like the plague that it is. In fact, I am now waiting until I get over to the US so I can get a Mac instead... or I may order one to be shipped.
Tearing up your kitchen...oops we did that about 10 years ago..not fun at all..don't work too hard

Wendy.
I know what you mean about delaying it..I didn't have the option since my house really needed the outside done before hurricane season and the repairs needed to be done before the, but what a job on the inside..I have no idea what where to put everything..LOL
Thanks for stopping by, hope your bacl feels better soon..as a matter of fact I have to go to Physical therapy in a few hours and should get some things done before that so I an collapse after...

Anne, Susan...many thanks to you also...I do so appreciate your kind words
Lori, definately think about a Mac, expecially an Intel based Mac. I've been using them since the mid 1980's. Back then, two skinny squirels chases each other in an exercise wheel to provide power. And yes, I have two PCs with Windows XP (a lap top and a tower). Windows Vista remains a primative and unreliable OS that has finally arrived (years after its projected delivery date). Spend a few minutes on someone's Mac with the latest version of OS X. You'll be amazed by how simple and straightforward it is. With Parallels Desktop or other software, you could install some version of Windows, but it's not clear to my why anyone would consider this. Email me if you have a Mac question.
Thanks for the welcome
You can put a board on the arms of an "easy chair" to keep the weight and heat of the laptop off your lap, BTW.
Cheers,
Echo
