And other ridiculous things Brain Dead Liberals (Bush Haters) say about our President.
Exactly how Stupid is President Bush?
From Wikipedia,
Bush attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts and, following in his father's footsteps, was accepted into Yale University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1968.
Bush is the only US President to serve holding a Master of Business Administration degree (from the Harvard Business School)
Nope nothing stupid about people who have attended these schools!
http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/smarter.asp
This article highlights the background of many in The President’s administration.
President George W. Bush: Received a Bachelors Degree from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He served as an F-102 pilot for the Texas Air National Guard. He began his career in the oil and gas business in Midland in 1975 and worked in the energy industry until 1986. He was elected Governor on November 8, 1994, with 53.5 percent of the vote. In a historic reelection victory, he became the first Texas Governor to be elected to consecutive four-year terms on November 3, 1998, winning 68.6 percent of the vote. In 1998 Governor Bush won 49 percent of the Hispanic vote, 27 percent of the African-American vote, 27 percent of Democrats and 65 percent of women. He won more Texas counties, 240 of 254, than any modern Republican other that Richard Nixon in 1972 and is the first Republican gubernatorial candidate to win the heavily Hispanic and Democratic border counties of El Paso, Cameron and Hidalgo.
A bit on Cheney,
Vice President Dick Cheney earned a B.A. in 1965 and a M.A. in 1966, both in political science. Two years later, he won an American Political Science Association congressional fellowship.
Nope not stupid either.
Now lets look at the qualifications of some of the BDLs who have questioned the President’s intelligence:
Barbra Streisand: Completed high school
Career: Singing and acting
Cher: Dropped out of school in 9th grade.
Career: Singing and acting
Martin Sheen: Flunked exam to enter University of Dayton.

Now I’m not willing to call any of these people STUPID but they certainly do not have the qualifications required to run a road side lemonade stand.(let alone our country)
Which Camp are you in?
Are you a Brain Dead Liberal who hates President Bush so much you don’t care about the FACTS!

I think he suffers from a number of personality and, possibly, physiological ailments that are the result of either his deranged upbringing and/or his past drug and alcohol abuses.
I also think that he was in no possible way qualified to assume the position that the corrupt and partisan SCOTUS handed to him illegally, and I think his record proves that out succinctly. He was chosen by the PNAC on his name alone. Once again, he's born on third base and thinks he hits a triple
Additionally, I believe that, were his name "Smith," "Jones," or "Barnacle," he'd be bagging groceries at the local 7-11 or lying on a park bench in his own urine and vomit, rather than tickling the launch button to the world's largest "nukular" arsenal.
My question to the author of this rather pointless article is, why do you feel it necessary to castigate all liberals as being "brain dead?" Can't you simply make a statement without unrightfully villifying 50% of the American population? Just how do you feel this childish name calling strengthens your position, and sways people to your way of thinking?
I would strongly recommend that, if you wish to find yourself taken seriously on any subject, you avoid the personal insults and broad generalization, and stick to merely discussing your point of interest.
Daddy probably did buy those degrees.
He may not be stupid , but he sure is a fool.
Besides, look at Academia. Conservatives complain about their "communism" and 'liberalism', so thats an interesting Intellegence test to use. The most liberal areas in any state are around collage campuses, so what are you proving exactly?
Quite frankly Tyler has the best point so far in this discussion.
The Secular Progressive will use "learned stupidity" as a weapon AND a shield as it suits them. The SP Elite are a learned class and know what's best for all, yet when one comes from these ivory towers of academia all of a sudden they're "educated idiots", born with silver spoons and bribed roadways of fortune and affluance...
"The president is a drunk swaggering cowboy with the death of the world under his thumb." Funny thing- I heard that line "once" before back in the 80s and then Communism fell.
POTUS Bush by no stretch of the imagination has gotten things right in this country- illegal aliens, health care, Iraq [as an exit strategy- "The War" was won 4 years ago, "The Occupation" is getting our collective asses handed to us]...
But for all the Monday Morning Armchair Quarterbacking I see- this is both sides of the political moras mind you- If these problems had been dumped on a room with any 100 of us, I doubt there'd be a concensus or solution to our woes right now.
For those with blind hatred of The POTUS- you've got just over a year and a half left for you to come up with somebody better AND that actually has a plan besides "it's a secret".
For those with a blind commital to The POTUS, try to realize that he may only have one good plan for every 4 or 5 things that he's tasked with making a final answer on.
For those of us willing to remain outside those circles that influance the rest- here's hoping there's enough Ninjas in Plaid to solve the on-scene problems from behind the scenes...
Funny discertation all the same Dan- good job insighing conversation!
"It's not a question of stupidity nor hate."
It certainly is about hate.
Your comment " He's a LYING-CHICKENHAWK...who has done nothing good for this country, it's citizens, he's failed across-the-board in foreign relations" is due to your hate for the President, it is certainly not based upon the facts.
The Presidents tax policies averted a beginning recession our country was facing early in his first term, even though the U.S. lost 1.5 million jobs due to the dot com bust and 9/11, the Presidents policies have allowed businesses to grow new jobs at such a rate that we now have record low unemployment rates.
Home Land Security, the global war on terror The Presidents "no child left behind" policy The U.S. citizens have benefited from all of these.
Foreign relations, Didn't I read N. Korea was back at the table, and the U.N. has placed sanctions on Iran for their illegal nuclear program.
"As he pushes into IRAN!"
We know that Iran is supporting the terrorists by training and arming them we should at least make an effort to stop them from doing so.
By Ron,
"I'm a thinking progressive that knows when you have a track record of utter and complete failure to add anything to your country's books but debt, war, and division, you ain't the brightest bulb in the pack,"
Ron, It takes more than just thinking, you have to be able to see both sides of an issue before you are capable of rational thought and your hate allows you to see only one perspective.
Utter and complete failure Bush is not.
By Superman,
"I think he suffers from a number of personality and, possibly, physiological ailments that are the result of either his deranged upbringing and/or his past drug and alcohol abuses."
Any FACTS to back that up Superman?
"Can't you simply make a statement without unrightfully villifying 50% of the American population?"
Superman do you actually believe that half of the population hates as much as you do?
I would guestimate 10%-15% of those who consider themselves to be on the "left are BDLs, the rest don't allow hate to rule them.
"I would strongly recommend that, if you wish to find yourself taken seriously on any subject, you avoid the personal insults and broad generalization,"
You mean like, comments that Bush haters make regularly and often?
By Tyler W.
"He has illegally wire-tapped phones etc... and, possibly sent troops into Iraq without (before) Congressional approval, both illegal in this country. Now you want to draw a line in the sand, you chose the criminal, I will chose the high school diploma."
I'll accept a President that pushes the boundaries in order to protect the U.S. citizens.
By David A.
"Bush still came out stupid."
Cute David but it doesn't make it so.
There is a reason what he did is illegal, too much power at the top makes a country top heavy and corrupt. America has enough of that already we don't need more of it.
I noticed you didn't comment on what you are trying to prove with Yale being his intellegence test, why? If collage is the test of intellegence you use then why are campuses usually the most liberal areas of any state or city? And what does that say about Conservatives?
Dan, your defense of what will most likely go down in history as THE worst presidency in the history of this great nation, demonstrates an alarming level of cluelessness. Wake up man, your defending what my dad used to call an "educated idiot." Education doesn't give you common sense.
Tyler,
Prove it. And you can not use made up documents, i.e. Dan Rather.
Thanks for voicing your opinion.
But taking into consideration the global war on terror this Presidency may well be known as the one that saved the world. (from itself) ;-)
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/09/08/bush_fell_short_on_duty_at_guard/
Besides, I suppose you were there and saw Bush show up, right?
Still dodging the IQ of College.
"The Presidents tax policies averted a beginning recession our country was facing early in his first term, even though the U.S. lost 1.5 million jobs due to the dot com bust and 9/11, the Presidents policies have allowed businesses to grow new jobs at such a rate that we now have record low unemployment rates."
Early on I tried to remain positive since I was brought up as a Republican. But when he opens his mouth and speaks...you just have to wonder how he got that degree.
"As a person caught in the middle of the dot com bust, I do question your interpretation of the president's role in the comment below:"
O.K. maybe you could elaborate.
The two are not related. The anti bush is primarily manufactured by the Democrats in the hopes more will vote for them in the future.
In other words you are a pawn!
It's not liberals who are stupid.
And, while MBAs and the managerial class lean republican, the professional classes (where intense intellectual focus is required, lean increasingly liberal.
Plus, the fact that children in Blue states demonstrate consistent higher achievement than the kids from Red states.
One of the reasons is that the bluer the state the larger the cities. Large cities mean even larger suburbs. Education is better in these suburbs because the better paying teaching jobs are there. This factor attracts better teachers and thus better education. It really isn't about liberal or conservative. It's about opportunity. The sad thing about GWB is that he has had so many opportunities to do good in our society and he chooses instead to create more havoc in the world. The opportunity to be the President of the United States of America is beyond most people's wildest dreams. It shouldn't be squandered on wire tapping and attacking countries that have not harmed us in any way.
As to the isolationist comments on this thread. Isolationism is bad but good diplomacy is what will make this country a great one. GWBs lack of detante with respect to our enemies and poor diplomacy is what will hurt his legacy - not the NY Times or any other perceived liberal media.
"I'll accept a President that pushes the boundaries in order to protect the U.S. citizens." (Dan E.)
And about the "No Child Left Behind" nonesense, you haven't talked to school teachers have you? They hate it because the kids are, in fact , being left behind. They have to waste class time each year just to study for the tests and not learning the curriculum. Not to mention we have poor test scores anyway, compared to the rest of the "developed" world.
(John Stuart Mill )
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
When read correctly it changes things a bit.
The surveillance of certain citizens due to the fact that known terrorists are trying to communicate with them is not a loss of "essential" liberty.
And taking into consideration the terrorists goal of our destruction, neither is the safety we get from such actions "temporary".
I'm sorry Tyler but you are just flat wrong about the No child left behind program, across the U.S. schools districts are seeing improvements in their students reading proficiencies, math proficiencies, the achievement gaps between black and white, hispanic and white and rich and poor is shrinking.
In my own state fifth grade reading proficiency rose 13% in two years and we had 77% more students seek tutoring.
The no child left behind may not have become the glowing success we had all hoped for (except the bush haters, they were praying for its failure from day one, sorry it didn't happen) but is having positive effects.
So tell me, despite the Presidents education his experience in business and politics you why do you consider him less than intelligent?
Most people who have posted in this thread similar thoughts do so due to their hate for the man, is your motivation the same?
On your point of contention,
You may be right Franklin may have been speaking of rights other than those specified in our bill of rights as non essential, but our history is full of examples of the citizens rights being temporarily restricted in times of emergency or war.
For the benefit and safety of the citizens our second amendment rights have been restricted by both federal and state governments, if we look at the original intent of the "right to keep and bear arms" which was for the citizens to be able to protect themselves from a tyrannical government we should be able to possesses any type of arms that are currently in the possession of the "standing army", I think it a wise decision to restrict this right and not allow the citizens at large to possess things like attack helicopters or battle ships or even grenade launchers.
Rights purists would put this country and its citizens in jeopardy, they would have the President ask permission every step of the way.
I believe in the system we have in place here in the U.S. when the executive branch proceeds in a certain manner claiming we have the authority and it is challenged in the courts, that is our system working.
I don't believe it is an aberration of essential rights to listen into the communications of a few highly suspect residents of our country.
Suspending our rights for any reason is giving in to pressure and that is un-American, if anything is making the terrorists win it is giving up our freedom to attack them. Besides, thousands of phones are tapped, have we arrested thousands of terrosist? No.
The President SHOULD ask permission at all steps, its called checks and balances. He is not a general, he is an elected official of the state. Listen to yourself, you are debating for a Monarchy.
We have three branches for a reason, and that is so one can't control the rest, namely, the president can't become too powerful (like tapping phones with no oversight from Congress or something like that perhaps).
It takes some people questioning (god forbid) the president to uncover his misdealings, by the way. If we don't have people questioning the authority of the president we don't have investigations to uncover this stuff in the first place. Hence the right to free press and free speech, etc... to expose the corruption. If only people that blindly follow leaders would listen to the facts the system would work wonders.
"First, we are not in a war"
Oh hey there Mr. tin man, more civilians died on our soil on 9/11 that in all of WW2, I guess your reasoning (or lack there of) leads you to believe we weren't at war then either.
So what price are you willing to pay for your rights? Another 9/11? Worse? A dirty bomb? A full fledged nuclear explosion?
Or are you one of those people who don't think the terrorists mean what they say?
I'll remind you 9/11.…Spain…..London. I guarantee you they mean to kill YOU!
But you probably won't realize that until either another 9/11 occurs or you finally make it to see the wizard.
In a war, like WWII, we are getting rations and all pitching in to help, when have you been rationed anything yet? We are getting tax cuts because its not a real war. Tax cuts don't help a real war effort. Are you changing your life in anyway to help the war effort? Most likely not.
We have 130, 000 troops in another country (more people died on Sumatra because of the tsunami, are they at war with the ocean?), its an occupation, not a war, and has NOTHING to do with 9/11, just look at the 'facts' we got involved on. Lies. No WMD's, no link to Bin Laden, no chemicals that I dont have under my sink etc...
"So what price are you willing to pay for your rights? Another 9/11? Worse? A dirty bomb? A full fledged nuclear explosion?"
When we defend our rights in a real war we sacrifice our lives for our rights, yes, those things are worth it. We are dying AND losing our rights in your scenario. What are we defending in Iraq if we give up our American freedoms to fight them? You are opting out of the very thing we should be defending in a war. Our way of life, which includes RIGHTS I have been talking about, is what we defend. And when they are being threatened I will join myself, but the only people attacking my rights are in the oval office right now.
"I have never said he (Bush) wasn't intelligent anywhere on gather."
I thought you had implied it.
"anything negative I've said or will say about him is based upon facts or "educated" opinion. One thing's for sure, I don't rely on conjecture or irrational, emotion based invective to eschew forth my stinging barbs."
I guess I'll have to take your word on that one.
"income taxes/IRS- totally unconstitutional,"
but there was that pesky little 16th amendment that made it "constitutional".
So Tyler,
I will take that as, you would rather have a another terrorist attack upon our country another 3K (or more) innocent lives lost rather than have one iota of rights restricted.
BTW…."war with the ocean" ;-) pretty lame Tyler.
Sorry guys but another important aspect of our country's ideals is the will of the people and the people don't see these violations as that big a deal compared to the danger faced, most of the people don't live in denial when it comes to the hazard to our country the terrorists present or ignore the lives they have already taken across the planet.
In a recent poll,
"What do you think is the ultimate goal of groups like Al Qaeda? Is their goal to take over the Middle East and control that region for themselves, or is their goal to destroy the United States itself?"
Answered, 48% destroy the U.S. 15% both
"Do you believe the terrorist threat from Islamic fundamentalism is constantly growing and presents a real, immediate danger to the United States, or not?"
Answered 76% immediate danger.
The people are going to seek security and protection over the violation of a few unessential rights of a few residents.
The people are not willing to even consider the loss of more innocent lives on our soil as acceptable.
'The people' you refer to just voted out the Republicans from the majority in Congress, and we will see about the President too.
People hate us around the world, but it has gotten worse by torturing and fighting so far. Maybe, just maybe, we should ask why they hate us instead of just attacking people. We haven't captured the only person we were looking for for 9/11 yet. Saying people are scared doesn't justify anything.
People were scared of anthrax too, what happened to that, by the way? Fabrication. No leads, no arrests, but no longer a problem, hmmm.
And, if you would read my post, yes losing more lives for our freedom staying intact is exactly what I was talking about. If people want to live in a free nation it might take some fighting for, even some dying for, but why send our troops to die when we are losing the very thing they are fighting for?
Tell me why it is justified to fight for rights we are also giving up, unless we are just fighting for money or property? So far you haven't actually proved anything except that you follow Bush and whatever he says. Do YOU know why you want to fight?
Yes! That is so
"What concerns you more about the government's anti-terrorism policies -- that they have not gone far enough to adequately protect the country, OR, that they have gone too far in restricting the average person's civil liberties?"
55% not far enough. 26% to far.
"As you may know, shortly after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, a law called the Patriot Act was passed. That law deals with the ways the federal government can obtain private information on people living in the U.S. who are suspected of having ties with terrorists. Based on what you have read or heard, do you think the Patriot Act goes too far, is about right, or does not go far enough in restricting people's civil liberties in order to investigate suspected terrorism?"
About right 44%, not far enough 18%
And this one will really stick in your craw.
- By a 53 percent - 46 percent margin, respondents surveyed said that
"Democrats are going too far, too fast in pressing the President to
withdraw troops from Iraq."
- By identical 57 percent - 41 percent margins, voters agreed with these two statements:
"I support finishing the job in Iraq, that is, keeping the troops there until the Iraqi government can maintain control and provide security" and "the Iraqi war is a key part of the global war on terrorism."
- Also, by a 56 percent - 43 percent margin, voters agreed that "even if they have concerns about his war policies, Americans should stand behind the President in Iraq because we are at war."
- While the survey shows voters believe (60 percent- 34 percent) that Iraq will never become a stable democracy, they still disagree that victory in Iraq ("creating a young, but stable democracy and reducing the threat of terrorism at home") is no longer possible. Fifty-three percent say it's still possible, while 43 percent disagree.
- By a wide 74 percent - 25 percent margin, voters disagree with the
notion that "I don't really care what happens in Iraq after the U.S.
leaves, I just want the troops brought home."
I thought I would just throw that one in, Oh thats gotta sting. ;-)
"Tell me why it is justified to fight for rights we are also giving up,"
Because to most people it is much less distasteful to have the government look into what they happen to be reading at the library or watch a few residents who are communicating with known terrorists than it is to have their family members blown to bits by a terrorists bomb.
The 2-party system is screwing us all, I am afraid. Senor Clinton's escapades made so many people apathetic to the point where they won't bother to vote any more. I wish more people could see the bigger picture. It would be stupid and stoopid of me to vote the straight Republican ticket, so I don't. But around here there seem to be a lot of Hispanic 'Catholics' who are big-time hypocrites by voting the straight democrat ticket. They are ignorant in doing so. And I do not support the increased religious ranting so many of the Reps are doing these days. Leave religion out of politics!
Okay Tyler, enough about the so-called lack of WMDs. The proof is that he used them on his own people, therefore he had them. Period. And what is this crap about us being hated all over the world? Listening to CNN again? At leat CNN Headline News seems pretty impartial, as opposed to the regular CNN or the others. More media-fabricated BS.
As for the Patriot Act, I do not support it. I do not support any type of gun control either. We need to punish criminals. Same for the drug problems. Execute drug smugglers immediately. Instead, we pass stupid laws which do more harm than good, and don't affect the problem at all. Texas' law requiring registration of 'lab equipment' to cut down on meth labs is ridiculous. Every coffee maker on a desk has four violations of the law! As written, you need to register your coffemaker and promise you are not using it to make meth. How stupid is that?
On the same issue, locking up someone for carrying a couple of joints is a serious waste of my tax money, which I should not be paying anyway. Don't tax me, legalize the pot and tax it. Check this out and remember that a large percentage of prisoners in the US are illegals:
http://www.gopusa.com/news/2007/february/0222_illegals_report.shtml
Why am I paying for this? Drop them into the ocean and stop wasting my money!
No Child Left Behind has some very good points. But the unrealistic goals are killing the good parts of it. Now educators are actually talking to each other about how to better do their jobs, something which never happened before. But the goals are setting every school district in the nation up to fail, regardless of how much time they waste teaching the test vs a real curriculum.
Bush is not the best President ever. But those want to replace him so far are orders of magnitude worse for this country, even in their current positions!
First, based on confirmed problems/shortcomings with the voting machines and numerous confirmed instances of Bush corruption and manipulation, it is very easy now to come to the conclusion that Gore actually won that election. Bush family power, corruption, and manipulation was used to steal it from him.
Then, he used lies, fear, manipulation and cherry-picking information in order to pull us into Iraq. Colin Powell also realized this, which is why he resigned--as he is too professional and honorable to go along with the Bush manipulation and agenda. His lies, manipulation, cherry-picking is now the cause of over 3200 military men/women losing their lives and 10,000+ coming back missing arms, legs, and with significant brain damage.
His administration went out of their way to release the name of a CIA Agent---putting many people throughout the world in danger. This was all done because her husband wrote an article saying that evidence/facts did not support Iraq having WMDs.
He was told by Colin Powell---also many other generals---that he was not sending in enough troops and that the area was going to break out in civil war. He completely ignored this advice/information, and in some instances fired those in professional positions who did not agree with him or his plans.
He spit on our constitution through the use of illegal wiretapping---using terrorism fears as an excuse. There is no reason whatsoever for any wiretapping to take place without a warrant proving probable cause. Even if there is solid, significant evidence indicating terrorist ties-- by law he was able to legally begin wiretapping as long as he proved probable cause and applied for the warrant within 3 days. If King George's power was not taken away from him during the elections, he was also pushing to be able to open the mail of all Americans---without a warrant.
He is guilty of supporting/using torture as a means of gaining information. Does the international community now place the US on a different level than that of the terrorists? What do you think is now going to happen to our military men/women when they are captured/kidnapped by enemies?
He wanted to turn our port security over to the UAE. This is the same UAE that helped the 9/11 terrorists to launder money. This is also the same UAE where some of the 9/11 terrorists lived. He had to be aggressively fought on this matter. I am confused......Why are we at risk from terrorists/terrorism, but we should now feel at ease in turning over our port security to the UAE?
According to Bush, our citizens and country is in significant danger from terrorists/terrorism, so we must fight the terrorists in Iraq. However, our borders remain wide open for anyone with anything to easily come into our country and do whatever they want. He refuses to provide the money, tools, soldiers, fence, etc., necessary to secure and protect our borders, US citizens, and our country as a whole. If our military kill 500 terrorists in Iraq during one week, how safe are we when 500 terrorists are able to slip into our country through the open borders?
He is again using manipulation, corruption, lies, etc. to prosecute and jail our Border Patrol Agents who were placed on our borders to protect US citizens and our country as a whole. He then gives the criminal drug dealer immunity, a path to citizenship, and the potential to sue our country for $5 million in exchange for his testimony to put away the Border Patrol Agents. It has been proven by congressmen, lawyers, citizens, etc. that these men were intentionally set up by our Dept of Homeland Security and the Bush Administration. How exactly is he protecting US citizens and our country?
During Katrina, he had to be dragged away from his vacation before he go to those areas hit and actually begin to do something. There were men/women/children without food and water for days. Sure, it may have been difficult/impossible at first to get to those people and rescue them, but there was no F'n reason in the world why those people should not have been provided with food/water dropped from helecopters.
He is supporting and allowing our country to be invaded and taken over by millions of illegals---who are destroying our economy and lowering our wages. They are destroying our healthcare/education systems. They are depleting our social benefit systems--paid for by LEGAL US tax payers. They are killing 12 LEGAL US citizens on a daily basis. They are destroying some of our environment (parks, canyons, etc. located in Ariz, Texas, and Calif.), and will end up depleting our resources. He is trying to wipe out the middle class. He is trying to turn our country into a third-world nation----with only upper class and lower-class citizens.
He went behind the backs of US citizens and congress with plans for the Totalization Agreement/Act. This was only discovered due to information released through the Freedom of Information Act. This is a plan to give all illegals who have worked in this country at least 18 months Social Security. There is a big fear and concern that Social Security will not even exist when many of us are ready to retire, but yet he wants to give millions of illegals and their dependents the opportunity to tap into our Social Security. This is called treason, as approval by congress is part of our government process. Clearly written and described so that even a moron can figure it out.
He went behind the backs of US citizens and congress with plans on creating the North American Union. This also was not discovered until information was demanded through the Freedom of Information Act. He wants open borders between Mexico, Canada, and the US. Free moving people/products back and forth across our borders. Many more American jobs and wages lowered by employing people from Mexico. This is also called treason---as approval of congress was established as part of our government process.
Now, you can guarantee that Bush is trying to create a situation so that we are pulled into war with Iran very soon. He has been warned by numerous Senators that he cannot start a war with Iran without going through congress, but we all know what King George is capable of. He already has aircraft carriers sitting in the Gulf, so you can guarantee that he is just waiting for the right opportunity to stage/setup a situation to start the war.
It is no wonder that the international community hates us and will never trust our country or our elected officials ever again.
If this was the time of our forefathers, Bush would have been hung for treason. Impeaching him is not a good solution, as we would be stuck with Chaney.
When I see or hear this man, I get sick to my stomach. I definitely am not naive enough to think that this is a man of intelligence, reason, common sense, morals, and that he is looking out for the security and well being of US citizens and our country as a whole.
I am not saying that he is a really smart man. Calling him an idiot is unfair. Reckless in some decisions, okay. But I am sure he decides what he can get away with, just like the other presidents before him did. I don't know about Bill being much smarter, not that it matters. But I would have had at least a shred of respect for the man if he had just said to the media: 'That's a private matter between me and my wife.'
Brenda has soem very good points regarding border issues and national security. She and many others need to get off the 'his daddy bought it for him' absurdity and look at the problems we need to solve. That's like saying Spielberg bought Arnold the governorship of CA. I attended a presentation on the Secure Border Initiative yesterday. They are planning to implement a ton of measures along the border to increase security. Lots of high technology involved. You might be interested in this:

Port security is and will continue to be a huge problem. We simply cannot open every container. Highly-enriched uranium 235 is not highly radioactive, and is easily shielded. A dirty bomb or possibly a small-yield fissile bomb could be built that would easily pass through even the truck-size detectors in use already in some areas. But we can go a long way to help prevent a mass-casualty event.
Out of curiosity, who would you rather see in the White House right now?
"I think he suffers from a number of personality and, possibly, physiological ailments that are the result of either his deranged upbringing and/or his past drug and alcohol abuses."
Any FACTS to back that up Superman?"
Statements of opinion don't require documentation.
FYI, evidence of or lack of formal education offer absolutely no indication of intelligence. As I recall, Edison dropped out of school. By the standards applied by the "brilliant" wingnuts here, he would be a "loser liberal idiot." Conversely, some of the dumbest morons I've ever met held lofty degrees. Go figure.
What we DO know, by casual observance, is that Bush is far from the brightest president this country has ever had, and just may be the overall dumbest, in terms of policies. He will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the worst, if not THE worst president of all time, a fate which would certainly not befall one of genius intellect.
He has already won the title of the worst. And, if our country survives the damage caused by this power-hungry, corrupt, manipulative idiot---it will be a very very long time before this title is taken away from him!!!

I was not ssuming anything. I was asking, albeit in a roundabout way, whether you knew people or were watching TV and assuming everyone hates us. So then I guess you are astutue enough to know that out of 100 random people you talked to somewhere, you were likely to have picked the ones with the negative opinion. I myself have a negative opinion about the way many arrogant US citizens act when they are in other countries, having been embarrassed by it. So did you read the article or see that it was a GOP website and assume it was wrong? At least I read the stuff befoer forming an opinion. And I never said you don't use facts, so sorry if I gave that impression. I have also talked to people from other lands who hate the W. You will always be able to find them. So what. The people I know have stories of other countries' citizens not liking us, but many more stories where they look up to us. Obviously people like the USA, or they would stop coming here!
Money is at the root of all things, when you come right to it. But it is logistically impossible to inspect every container. Period. Even if you could, you would miss things, just like they miss drug shipments in cars crossing the border now. Humans are fallible creatures, and we are all sorry that our leader of the greatest nation on earth has made more (and more public) mistakes than many others. We will get over it. We did get out of the Great Depression, and we got out of the Clinton Depression.
So who should be in the White House then? No one else who has ran is qualified to lead us. Those who have announced they will run in 2008 are not qualified either, except as inmates or MAYBE an advisor of some sort.
What exactly are you talking about in regard to the Clinton Depression?? During the Clinton Admin everyone was working and had good wages and the economy was booming. So, I am truly confused by this statement.
I have come to believe that no matter who is in office, our day-to-day live are not impacted a whole lot, so people become apathetic and don't vote. Do not tell me you are not disgusted by the barrage of negative campaign ads every coupla years.
On the subject, do you think a national flat tax would be a good thing, and why? Should it be one rate for people and another for businesses, or flat across the board?
Look at our actions (under all presidents) in the world, we are heavy handed and people don't like us getting invovled when we support one person the country doesn't like etc.... (This has happened a lot in South America especially). How would you feel if our president worked for another country (like Saudi Arabia, or something)?
I don't seek out people that hate the President, they are everywhere and I'm not exaggerating there. The only real support this administration has in the world is a couple countries looking to keep their aid from us and Australia's leader (the country population is a different story, however). The willing is dwindling, so where are the people that love him at Nick? Where have you traveled to?
"These shortsighted so-called liberal [sic] people do not listen to reason." You said. I was under the impression (I guess incorrectly, according to you) that REASON has a little something to do with the FACTS of the matter.
The fact is that this administration hasn't even touted victory in the arena of finding WMD's, which I would guess they would do had they found any, since it looks real bad that they haven't. Rove would jump all over it, as they jumped all over the unreliable Iraqi they got the information from. It fit their logic, so they went with it. Sad.
P.S. Checking all the cargo containers is not logically impossible (you might want to look that up). It may be practically impossible, pragmatically impossible, or some other use of impossible you want to use, but not logically impossible. It would cost a lot, for sure, but it is physically possible, and therefore Logically possible. If you can check one, you can check them all. We just don't want to pay for it, but we don't mind having our troops die for it instead, right?
Nobody will ever be able to convince me that there is anything good that resulted from Bush or his administration being in power. Nobody will ever be able to convince me that there is some hidden genius behind the words/actions of that idiot in our White House. Nobody will ever be able to convince me that our country and citizens are safer due to our troops being in Iraq-- when our borders remain wide open and our president/government does everything possible to put those on our borders who are trying to protect us by doing their jobs--in prison. Nobody will ever be able to convince me that we should be willing to give up rights/benefits of US citizenship---guaranteed through our constitution---to King George and his village idiots. Nobody will ever be able to convince me that King George represents "we the people"---when illegal invaders are being given more rights/benefits than tax paying US citizens, and their lawlessness/criminal activity is accepted---when LEGAL US citizens would be thrown in jail for the same acts.
King George should have been hung for treason at the same time that Hussein was hung.
King George represents King George, the Bush family, and his rich buddies that make up corporate America.
I'm glad you came an posted your thoughts, but how can one person have so much hate for another?
One of the thing I have come to understand about liberals is how willing they are to hate.
Hey nick, if Clinton's economic success was because of Redink Ronnie, how's come the nation was in a recession when he took over?
Jesus H, nick, you are one thoroughly deluded fool in terms of your knowledge of economics. Bet you didn't know that Carter produced more economic growth than Redink did during most of his dreadful terms, did you? Since you think you know so much about Carter, why don't you explain exactly what it was that he did that you think caused such an economic "fiasco." I'll give you a little hint; he inherited the fiasco, from Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford. Do some research, and come back a bit more enlightened. Your ignorance is frightening.

Btw, please don't disappoint. I've got big money resting on whether or not you wacky wingnuts have the gonads to read these articles.
Geoffrey, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the mindless twits will find a way to either blame Clinton or the 2008 democrat for the economic damage that Bush and his neocon pals have created.
"You open up this article by calling liberals "Brain Dead"."
No I didn't, I called Bush haters Brain dead liberals.
I fully understand that most liberals are capable of rational thought, that they can see both sides of an issue and are not ruled by hate. (and have posted so before in this thread)
BDL's on the other hand can not get past their hate for Bush.
David you are welcome to come to my articles and jump to conclusions any time you like.
Please wake up America, the US and US citizens are not morally or financially responsible for these crimninals or their children.
They are destroying our economy and lowering our wages. They are destroying our healthcare/education systems. They are destroying our environment and resources.
They had the arrogance to be in our streets---waving Mexican and communist flags---while DEMANDING that they be provided with rights/benefits that they are not entitled to. They are not citizens, they are not entitled to anything that US citizens have died and paid for throughout our history. They need to go back to their own countries and fight for rights/benefits.
If the 20 million currently in our country are given amnesty, they will be allowed to bring in their immediate family members. This will turn the 20 million into 40 million in no time. At that point, they will become eligible for ALL social benefits--welfare, WIC, foodstamps, etc.--as they will be considered legal.
Our country is going to be turned into a third-world nation, which will consist of only the upper and lower classes. Think of what kind of country you are going to be leaving your children/grandchildren.
Illegal invaders kill 12 LEGAL US citizens every day!!

"One hundred Mexican trucking companies will have unlimited access to U.S. roads to haul international cargo as part of a year-long pilot program, the Department of Transportation announced today
In return, 100 U.S. trucking companies will be allowed to operate in Mexico but at a later date.
Calling for congressional hearings, Teamsters General President Jimmy Hoffa compared the announcement to the "Dubai Ports debacle," charging President Bush is "playing a game of Russian roulette on America's highways."
As WND previously reported, the Teamsters Union has strongly protested the opening up of U.S. highways to Mexican trucks, citing safety concerns."

"DOBBS: Mexican truckers apparently will soon be hitting American highways. The U.S. Department of Transportation announcing a plan that allows Mexican trucking companies to begin making deliveries in the United States. That is, if the Bush administration has its way and follows through on an announcement made not in the United States but in Monterrey, Mexico.
JAMES HOFFA, INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF TEAMSTERS: What's happening here is that the Bush administration is buckling to the pressure of Mexican business and the Mexican government, and U.S. business, to have cheaper trucks and cheaper truck drivers on the highway at the sacrifice of American safety on the highway, so that corporations can make more money."

Did you see that part!!! No stopping......Just drive right through into our country with terrorists, bombs-- whatever they may be transporting!!!
Now, why exactly did that retard in our White House say that we needed to be in Iraq? Why did he say that our military men/women should be willing to have their bodies destroyed and their lives taken in Iraq??
Uh...so sorry to break this to you, sparky, but republicans controlled congress for the past 12 years.
Ooopsie.
"I'm not jumping to conclusions,"
Here let me recap for you,
From my article,
"And other ridiculous things Brain Dead Liberals (Bush Haters) say about our President."
There yah go David, it's specific and it leaves no question as to who I think BDL's are. Maybe you need to be working on your reading comprehension skills?
"I'd respect you just a little." No need David.
"The statement you made to linda was that liberals are willing to hate"
Yah with that statement I did kinda sorta paint liberals with the same broad brush…..so what?
Have the stones to back them up or shut the hell up.
Sorry David, I'm going to keep posting articles that bait the Bush haters to show their true colors.
But thanks for posting and you keep your eye out for my next invitation.
Although I hesitate to include myself in the same category with someone who has shown such vitriol towards our President, I too have utilized www.numbersusa.com to send dozens of faxes to my reps.
I do appreciate your posts here on the subject because it appears that neither of the big two are willing to do anything about illegals or our porous border. Both parties seem to think the future Hispanic vote is a good trade off for our security.
I didn't know about that group......Thanks!!!
These videos were filmed in California during the marches and subsequent protests. Please watch them......As they will be coming to a neighborhood near you very soon!!!!

Brenda,
I live 45mi from the border at El Paso. I totally agree with you on the immigration issues. Last year there was a fracas here where a freight terminal down at Santa Teresa had the Mexican flag flying higher than the US flag. Once the media mentioned it, they caught a lot of crap and lowered it. The bad thing is, we get not only people who want a better life and will work their asses off to get it here, but the criminals, who our pathetic legal system won't punish, along with them. W's idea of the guest worker program would be good, but not the free citizenship crap. Pardoning any criminals that are illegals is completely unacceptable.
When I travel in Mexico, I try (pathetically, I admit) to speak Spanish out of respect for the people whose country I am visiting. That doesn't happen with the illegals around here. And what is 100 times worse, their kids who were born here don't learn English, and they are the lazy ones who won't work, want welfare and are freeloaders for the most part. I realize I am generalizing and condemning some fine people who do not belong to that group, but that is the norm around these parts. When I shoot someone who breaks into my house, will I get in trouble because I didn't yell for them to lay down on the floor in Spanish?
Send me the link to the United We Stand group also please. Thanks.
Translation: "I'm in WAY over my head on this one, but still cannot resist the overwhelming urge to somehow make myself appear larger by attempting to demean he whom I cannot debate."
Interesting surrender tactic. I will accept your humble defeat in a mature manner, however. I congratulate you for even having the courage to address me publicly.
Ultimately, accumulating degrees matters little. What you accomplish with your life determines the legacy you leave. On that score, George W Bush has already proved to be a waste of education.
