Over the weekend, news came out of a possible link between one of the country's most known missing child case and possibly the country's most twisted serial killer. While the news is now breaking, law enforcement officials have been investigating a possible link between the disappearance and murder of Adam Walsh and Jeffrey Dahmer, a canibalist killer of young men in Wisconsin, since 1991.
While Dahmer lived in Wisconsin when his arrest made international news, he was living near Hollywood, Calif., when young Adam disappeared. Witnesses at the time of the abduction reported seeing a man that they said later looked like Dahmer in the mall and even the Sears store where Adam was last seen. One witness gave police a tip back then that someone was seen struggling with a little boy to get him into a blue van. As it turns out, Dahmer worked for a sandwich shop that used blue vans for deliveries. The owner did allow employees to use them for personal errands. Two of the witnesses contacted police again many years later when Dahmer's photo appeared in papers all over the country. They recognized him from that fateful day in Floriday.
The cases have both similarities and differences. A lead investigator who interviewed Dahmer for hundreds of hours says it doesn't match Dahmer's M.O. Dahmer liked older boys and none were abducted by force. Instead, they were lured to his apartment and kept alive for days. As for similarities, young Adam Walsh was dismembered, with only his head being recovered. Dahmer was questioned about any connection with the disappearance of Adam during his plea process interrogations. He denied any connection, even when the state of Florida agreed to forego the death penalty in the case if he confessed.
We may never know the truth about this case, as Dahmer was killed a few years back by some fellow inmates. John Walsh has long believed that his son was killed by a drifter, although the drifter died without making a deathbed confession. I just think this whole Dahmer connection is spook. And it's amazing to me that they were able to keep this theory under wraps for so many years.

John Walsh has known about the Dahmer theory for quite some time. Yes, serial killers' have a preference for a certain type of victime but they have been known to stray to throw off LE or for other reasons', such as opportunity. The eyewitness' was not "out of the blue" after 20 years. They have spent years contacting different Law Enforcment agencies to get their statements' on record. One even worked with an artist and had a composite drawn that match Dahmer exactly. Hopefully the Walsh family can get some answers and lay Adam to rest in peace, finally.
