I don't know why, but it's easier for me to long-hand my writing than it is for me to type it out. Could be because the blank sheet of notebook paper isn't nearly as intimidating as the blinking cursor of MS Word. I think they made the cursor like that so you feel like ripping your hair out when you can't make the cursor move. It just blinks at you from the page.
And pencils! When long handing, I prefer pencils to pens any day. Pens are for letters, or personal journals, not for writing where every mistake is left on the page. Nothing is ever perfect the first time around (except kids, they come out just how they're supposed to be), so I've invested in the nifty pencils I saw at Wal-Mart last night: liquid graphite. I hate using that dinky little sharpener, and click pencils always break. Thank heaven for science.
