I have looked at the FAQ's on the survey sites that have paid me in 2006 and cannot find anything, so I am asking Gather. For those who complete surveys and get paid for them, do you report them to the IRS? This is the first time it has come up for me. I haven't received any thing W-2's, 1099's or whatever I'm supposed to get and so I am clueless. It's just a few dollars here and there from different survey sites, but it has added up to probably over $100 for the year. I want to be honest with the IRS (certainly don't need them knocking on my door or pestering me on the phone) so please, if anyone has the answers, fill me in!
Thanks!

I am 99% sure this is correct. Perhaps someone else can confirm?
Personally, I follow the no 1099, no report method myself.
All income is supposed to be reported, but who does?? Do you report what you recieved for christmas (and yes...gifts need to be reported..look it up if you dont believe me!) or if someone pays for your dinner, etc.......of course not!! The IRS is not so strict as to try and track down a few dollars here and there!! And besides, how can they prove you actually received the gift cards or even used them??? Just because it was sent to some address does not mean it was received by you! or if it was used!! If the IRS would do this, Im going to send a gift card to my ex-boyfriend and then contact the IRS about someone not reporting income.... LOL!!!
Y'all are great and so very helpful.
Sandra, I will look up tax articles on here to see what else I can find out as well. Thank you for posting those comments!
