Say what you say is really Bull Pucky

In my life time I have given much advice and proverbs to "help" me or guide me. 

Proverbs I think are just plain dumb:

"If it doesnt kill you it will make me better or stronger"  Tell me if the soldiers coming home who have Post traumatic Syndrome will be a better stronger person.

"If the shoe fits wear it."  The other half not stated is if the shoe does not fit don't let what was said bother you.  Not!  Hateful words hurt.  Accusations write or wrong damage relationships.

"Sticks and stones will break my bones.  But names will never hurt me."  Names hurt.   Some the names hurt more and longer than the physical hurts. 

"For every door that shuts one will open."  So if you are fired or laid off does that mean no problem you will get another job.  Tell that to the people who pick the fruits and vegetables in California where the crops were frozen. 

"God helps those who help themselves."  First that is NOT in the Bible.  Tell that to the homeless and the people who have to go to food banks even though they have a job.
